Looking to get a camera to record my daughter's soccer games. There are a lot of options out there.

We'll probably use the footage on a laptop primarily, but would like to option to watch on a full tv without a lot of picture breakdown.

What have you used and liked?

I have a Canon VIXIA. It tends to over heat on crazy hot/humid days but other than that it works great and is very user friendly.

Yeah, the Canon Vixia is a good choice. Make sure to get a fast memory card--as fast as you can and with as much memory as you want.

There's a Sony that's a little cheaper (as is the Go Pro), but the Canon has excellent zoom. Sound won't be great, but it should be good enough, and if it's not, you can buy a recorder/mike and attach it. Dr. Ken would probably know all about that. I do have a recorder and have attached it to my DSLR, and it improves the sound quality significantly, but generally I have no real reason to attach it.

The zoom is awesome. I have the 1.21 giggawatt memory card. I can video showcase after showcase after showcase. The sound is pretty good. Got me in trouble a couple times.

Which Vixia? The HF R82 is supposed to have a good optical zoom.
