Is it any good as a browser or is it just a new name for the same crappy Internet Explorer?

Been using Chrome for awhile, but it has become very glitchy lately

What kind of glitches? I'm a Chromebook guy and have not had any problems.

Pages taking quite a while to load. When I got to type an email or a reply here it lags and takes awhile for the letters to appear. Stuff like that.

Edge opens .epubs so that I don't need a separate e-reader app. That's about all I use it for. Chrome's been treating me perfectly, and the lagging email text you mentioned has actually been an issue in Microsoft's email client. It's a pain and I just want to use my gmail for everything instead.

Chrome drains my battery faster than Edge

I just leave my laptop plugged in the outlet next to the recliner I sit in when I'm using it.
Switched to Chrome after years of using Firefox when Firefox became glitchy. I don't use Edge for anything. It sucks.

Pro tips!

Edge is still IE, just re-branded and at times extremely more annoying.

Often times Chrome is slowing down because websites are doing more with local browser storage. Just means you should try to clean out browser history more often.

If you have an extensions installed that you don't use, remove them.

The more tabs you open but don't use, the slower the browser. There are a few extensions out there which will keep just the webpage link in the tab, freeing up more memory for the browser. When you go back to the tab, the page will be loaded back up.

How do you find extensions? I don't think I have any installed that I did my self...
so you're also saying if I have a idle tab open with a youtube video on pause, facebook, reddit and CFMB for example, that might be gumming up the works?
We are talking about Chrome, right?

I like most Microsoft stuff. Don't ever use their browser. Even if this is decent now it won't be for long. Use chrome or firefox.

Correct.

Brave browser implements ad-tracking and private browsing without the need for extensions. The reduced payload on page loads makes it seem super-fast compared to other browsers.

https://brave.com/

Firefox declined after one of the co-founders, Brendan Eich, became CEO and then not long after had to resign and leave the company completely--after a SJW campaign on twitter over his support of Cali's same-sex marriage ban prop.

Eich left and started another browser company, Brave.

I use The Great Suspender and it does help quite a bit.

In Chome, go to the following to see extensions:

chrome://extensions/

There's an extension called "The Great Suspender" that has pretty good reviews. It helps with the multi-tab slowdown in Chrome:

Good to know, I've installed it as well but have a pretty powerful machine so don't always see much of a slowdown.

yeah, Chrome's been acting up for a while. On my mom's crappy laptop it does this thing where it flickers randomly for a few minutes every few days or so. On mine it'll occasionally slow down here & there, but I think that has to do more w/ Trend micro overworking.

Still, I don't think there's a better browser to use. I can't get used to Edge, don't really care for it's aesthetics.
