This was awesome. Lots of excellent pieces coupled with equally impressive visuals. Also, some hilarious videos before and during intermission. Also, had a cool meet and greet afterwards and got to talk to some of the performers, get my program signed, and even got a photo with my new favorite composer Jack Wall.

This is supposed to be in Chicago some time this year...gamers of the board, we need to do this!

...but here's the thing...out of everything they played, that would probably rank towards the bottom...I really don't like the guitar being there...but I can understand...if I was running a show like that and I played guitar, I'd want to be up there during the Halo segment too...

The idea of humans re-enacting video games and holding concerts strikes me as a bit, uh, too much - fanatical maybe? But, like I said, to each his own.

There wasn't a lot of reenacting going on, Panther.

Great picture, shakes.

Just got back from Indy...

...first off, that place was swarming with geeks...it was awesome...apparently GenCon is a pretty big deal...almost everyone I saw at my hotel was there for the convention...it really hit me when I was having a drink at the lounge before the show and this chick kept talking about casting spells, NPCs, and vampires and werewolves...

...anyways, the show was fantastic...a very different setlist from when I was in Minneapolis (I'm guessing this had a lot to do with that show being the first for that city, while this was the third time they've played Indy)...also seemed like they played more stuff at this show...all in all, a good time...looking forward to Chicago in November.

Setlist:

Classic Arcade Compilation
Afrika
Assassin's Creed II
God of War
Frogger
Shadow of the Colossus
Liberi Fatali (Final Fantasy VIII)
Lament of the Highborn (World of Warcraft)
More World of Warcraft
Starcraft II

(intermission)

Zelda Arrangment played by "Flute Link"
Zelda
Mario
Guitar Hero (same as before...kid playing game on stage...wasn't as good as the last time)
Mega Man
Halo
One Winged Angel (Final Fantasy VII)

(encore)

Castlevania
Chrono Trigger/Chrono Cross

Another great show Friday night...

Classic Arcade Compilation
Mega Man
Assassin's Creed II
Lament of the Highborne (WoW)
Frogger
Afrika
Zelda Arrangement by "Flute Link"
Halo

(intermission)

Castlevania
Tron
Guitar Hero: Aerosmith
Street Fighter 2
One Winged Angel (FFVII)
Chrono Trigger/Chrono Cross

(encore)

Still Alive (Portal)

Really enjoyed hearing the new Street Fighter 2 segment. Also was glad that the Halo piece was different from the last two times I've seen them, as this set featured music from Halo 3, as well as the announce trailer "Finish the Fight."

Finally, an orchestra hall full of nerds singing along to Still Alive was a great moment that I will never forget.

Finally settled in back in Iowa, and I still can't believe I was able to go to this...The Paramount is an awesome theater and I would recommend anyone who finds themselves in Seattle to see a show there...a really great venue.

The set list was prett similar to the show in Minnesota from a few weeks ago, but there were a couple notable additions. Snake Eater from MGS3 was awesome, and of course I enjoyed the piece from Reach very much...speaking of which...

Halo Reach @ Video Games Live Seattle 01/22/2011

Classic Arcade Compilation
Mega Man
Assassin's Creed II
Lament of the Highborne (WoW)

(Segment with Ralph Bear via Skype)

Frogger
Afrika
Zelda Arrangement by "Flute Link"
Halo (w/ debut of Reach)

(intermission)

Castlevania
Shadow of the Colossus
Tron
Metroid and Zelda Remix by The Icarus Kid
Snake Eater (Metal Gear Solid 3)
Guitar Hero: Van Halen
Street Fighter 2
One Winged Angel (FFVII)

(encore)

Chrono Trigger/Chrono Cross

(encore)

Still Alive (Portal)

After the show, they did the usual meet and greet, and present were the composers for the Halo series, Martin O'Donnell and Mike Salvatori...they were nice enough to sign my copy of the Reach soundtrack and take a photo...

Just a great night!
