This really sucks.

First, Activision is the one publisher I hate even more than EA...they've ripped the soul out of Infinity Ward, and while the language in this press release insists that Bungie is still independent, being locked into an agreement for ten years means they are pretty much part of Activision now, whether they want to admit it or not.

Second, this all but guarantees that the new IP will be released on multiple platforms. Bungie knows the 360 hardware inside and out...people in that studio have helped shape the platform. To tell me that they are going to be able to give the same kind of dedication to multiple platforms is a Reach (pun intended).

I can see it now...360 owners will bitch that the game would have been better if it was 360 exclusive, PS3 owners will bitch that the game should be better on their system since the hardware is superior, and people who own both systems will wonder why they needed to go multiplatform in the first place.

Bungie, I love you, but I'm really shaking my head at this one.

First thought that pooped in my head was the Activision hockey game for Atari 2600. I loved how you could take out the legs of one of the other players. Yes, I'm old too.
