I was under the impression that these games were supposed to be good...I'm probably two-thirds of the way through the first one, and so far all it's been is button mashing and trying to make it through puzzles with horribly shitty camera angles...

Really, is it just the blood and tits that got this game a good rating? Because the actual gameplay is garbage...

I heard Dante's Inferno was very similar to the GoW series. Havent played either, but Dante seemed more appealing to me.

Yeah, I picked that up a few weeks ago, and it was like playing the exact same game, I don't know how EA doesn't get sued... exact same concept, different story, basically same controls...

I'm still curious as to how all three games got such high ratings, even among the gamestop review, one of the "negatives" was "can get a little bit button-mashy" But among the "good" was that it was "one of the best musical scores ever", so I guess you can appreciate that lipid

I guess that's why there's chocolate and vanilla, it's just too bad that vanilla was rated over a 9.0

The music is alright, but it's basically the same three or four songs over and over again. Hoping II and III are better in that respect...and others.

I haven't played any of the titles, but I have heard that the biggest reason these titles got the l337 reviews was because of the animation and boss battles.

Well, it would be unfair to judge the visuals now since it's a five year old game (although the remastering done for the PS3 collection is pretty impressive...it's funny when the in game graphics are better than the cutscenes...) but the boss battles were "meh" for me...sure, the giant minotaur was interesting, but the hydra went pretty much as I would have expected it to go and the last boss was a whole shitload of button mashing with some matching on screen commands thrown in for good measure...

When was the last time you played a game that had a final boss battle that absolutely blew your mind, though? I mean, even MW2's final scene involved pressing one button. Button-mashing is unfortunately the way a lot of "great final battles" end up with for most video games.

Well, Borderlands' final boss blew me away, but that was because of how much it sucked...

Resistance 2 had some good boss battles...the swarm is the first one that comes to mind...had to lure it out into an area so you could kill it, but if you were too slow, it would tear you apart...also, the battle against the Leviathon was awesome...

Gears of War had some good battles too...the first time you face a Berserker is sweet...same with the Corpser...RAAM, not so much... ....Gears 2 wasn't as great, except for the Hyrdra battle...that was pretty good...

Not a boss battle per se, but the encounter with the two scarabs in Halo 3 was pretty good...lots of different ways to take them down...could knock their legs out and board it and sweep through the Covenant on board, or try getting behind it to take of it's armor and blow up the reactor that way...or my favorite...flying the Hornet straight at it and jumping out on top the thing and cleaning house that way...
