Since the pruning eliminated the thread on Assassins Creed II, I just wanted to say that I picked the game up used with my $25 gift card from Christmas, and wow -- this game was awesome! I just finished it (I got all the glyphs but hell no I am not going to try to find all the feathers.) Excited for the third but I've never played the first. Is it worth picking up the first? I figure if I can find it for $14.99 I'll get it, otherwise I might just go straight to the third one.

The 1st one is just as good. Takes place during the 1st Crusade if i remember correctly. You should be able to find it for less than $15.
I love the side mission of finding and killing the Templar Knights. I suggest you get it

Yes, this was good...coming across a templar in a dark alley and having him shout a bunch of foreign shit at you right before you impaled him was good stuff..

Glyde.com, newper. Don't you dare spend more than $10 on that game.

Assassin's Creed 2 was much better than the original in my honest opinion. A lot more to do, and a lot more wide open. The scenery / design was also much better...in the first it seemed like there were 15-20 different types of buildings...repeated hundreds of times over (like a True Crime game...) but in AC2...the areas were far more unique.

Well to be fair it's late 1000's Jerusalem area compared to renaissance Florence Italy. Tons of cities would pale in comparison next to Renaissance Italy. I thought the 1st part's scenery was amazing especially the scene when you 1st reach Jerusalem.

The game play is alot faster and smoother in pt 2 though and it's definitely more open
