For for 360 owners, a free game is available for download the 1st and 16th of each month.
Two games are available for One owners each month, though I don't know what day they're available. You can redeem One games if you have an 360 and download them later when you do buy a One.

I just happened across this on my dashboard.

The 360 game free now is Bioshock Infinite.

Thanks for the update Darkside.

But Games for Gold has been around for a long, long, long time.

Enjoy!

Just saw this for the first time ever. Had no idea.
But I'm getting a free game today. So that's cool.
What other games were giveaways?

There have been some pretty goof stuff, some meh but whatever.

Bioshock: Infinite
Spec Ops: The Line
Vanquish
Tomb Raider
etc

can't remember all of them but they are usually pretty solid.

Play Bioshcok Infinite right now. It'd be great if you've played Bioshock first, but if you haven't go to youtube and watch a quick summary and then play Infinite. Do it now!

I fell in love with Defense Grid when it was one of the free games...got Assassin's Creed 2 that way, too...

On the One, I've only played Rayman Legends, which is fun...I think I've downloaded a few of the others but haven't played them.

As for other games that have been freebies, I know Halo 3 and Reach have each been on the 360...the fuckers made Reach free right around the time Destiny came out...jerkstores...

It's in the top five games I've ever played. Ken Levine (the game director and creative force) should be writing movies for Hollywood. Check out all the videos on youtube with all the explanations of Infinite.

I've been telling the man to play it since he got the thing ... I at least got him finally around to Fallout 3.

Red Dead Redemption is one to keep in mind for future play as well.

I agree with everything contained within these forbidden texts.

Bioshock itself is awesome, Bioshock 2 was also pretty damn good and Infinite was fantastic...the DLC for it was top notch as well.

Red Dead was also incredible. One of the best video game experiences I've had was the timing of the music when you first cross over to Mexico. Outstanding!

Red Dead is a masterpiece. Crossing into Old Mexico you could argue is the most cinematic experience ever in a video game.

Long Live John Marston.

Bioshock 1 and 2 are available on XBL together for like $10. I need to get it.
I didn't play either, but recognized a scene near the end as being a location from Bioshock, plus, looking off in the distance, you can see a dude from the cover art in a tunnel... with what looks like a little sister crying over it.

This appears to be a standalone but there's many elements here that carry over/crossover.

This might be one of the most unique games I've ever played. Fantastic story. For a minute I thought it might turn out to be a love story... and it may have been on some level but not the way I anticipated.

The main character was much deeper than any I've seen in a video game. Deep psychological issues.

The epilogue after the credits... back in the office... but also kinda  . I was like "please be in that crib..."

Huh. I always figured Red Dead to be like a wild west GTA. Wrong?

Fallout 3 was really good. I still have DLC to work thru too. Now.. it was a little too... Skyrim? for me to really really enjoy it the way I normally would. I love pure shooters. This one was a bit talkey.

So maybe I'll pick up RDR... would that be better for my next project than Bioshock 1 and 2?

While it's still fresh I'd stay in the Bioshock world. Red Dead will keep you busy for a looong time. Have you ventured into the Arkham universe yet? All fun games which become great if you're a Batman fan.

And don't badmouth Skyrim or you'll catch an arrow to the knee.

I AM a batman fan. He's my favorite superhero by a LONG way. He's just a guy. No bullshit super powers or radioactive spiders. Just a guy. Haven't played any of those either.

I didn't play Skyrim yet, just Oblivion. Arrow to the knee   . That's delish.

It pretty much is, but it's a great game. Probably one of my favorite games from the last 10 years. I'm not much of a gamer, but I finished Red Dead 100%.

In a way it is ... you can go into it with that idea, but it's not (necessarily) run up and down the ol' dusty trail shooting people and stealing horses ... though you can ... and you can lasso a nun, drop her on the train tracks, and wait for the inevitable, giggling the whole time.

Matches' point about riding into Mexico cannot be overstated, although I kinda thought using Christopher Cross' "Ride Like the Wind" as background music was a bit jarring.

... I am not serious about their choice of music ... but do save just before that so you can try it, it's funny ...

Your weekend is set then; DW's too.

Once you've gotten somewhat well into the game and just want to free roam, play "Ride Like the Wind" by Christopher Cross and just ride around on the horse for a cheap laugh about how weird your life is at that moment.
