Bought off ebay. As is sale, and its obvious why

of course, it looked great in the pictures. seller said it had no wifi card and sound cant be tested in the bios so apparently he didnt know that didnt work.

when i got it, i popped in a wifi card and tried to enable the sound. well, nothing shows in device manager. oh well, with a USB sound adapter and a USB wifi it actually does run great. I ripped the motherboard out so I could fit it inside one of my tv's.

Pretty obvious what the problem was... WATER!! eek!!

I cleaned it all up with some electronic cleaner... looks like new again. Won't be able to test it until I have it all mounted in the tv, but I do think the sound might start working again now that half the circuit board isnt shorted out with limestone. I didn't see anything burnt or broken, so that is promising.

the only other tricky part now is im trying to make this fit in an LG 32" tv that isnt all that thick, so its a squeeze... but I think I can do it.

Good luck. Likely no go though. Those connections are so close together to not be shorted forever.

It's not for sealing... it's for undoing later.

not broken all the way!

look on ebay. e6500 as is machines are going for $65. You can also get just the base assembly (no monitor) for $30.

Now think about the other option- raspberry pi2. perfectly capable of turning your tv into a kodi player- but its actually more expensive than just buying a latitude base assembly that has a core 2 duo chip in it.

shit, even the e6410 base assemblies are $50 and those have i5 or i7's

and fitting a whole laptop motherboard into a tv isnt that much more difficult than installing a raspberry pi.

install open elec onto a usb drive and away you go. every tv or movie you could ever want instantly.

I just got another e6500 full machine in. high res display on this one, very nice. these are commercial grade machines, its crazy that just a few years ago someone paid $1000k+ for this.

Or you could just by a used smart tv off of Craigslist.

let me know how you hack proprietary oem software to put kodi on it

without kodi, you are wasting your time (and money)

plus you cant play games like i can
