Sorry guys, no megathreads this year from me (or, more likely, you're welcome?)

Listened to Microsoft...enjoyed it...one of their better shows...

...but Sony just opened with The Last Guardian and they could literally show a steaming pile of shit for the next 80 minutes and they'd still win E3.

You've never heard of the Shenmue series?

Sounds pretty solid although I'm not buying a system for a FF7 remake. TLG looks cool, SOTC and Ico were good so high hopes for that.

I'll be interested to see Microsoft's GamesCon stuff with Quantum Break, Scalebound and Crackdown.

Best E3 ever.

TLG feels like a 20 year project at this point.

check out youtube for live reactions to the FF7 remake, a lot of gamers nearly cried during that E3 video they were so excited. The uncharted 4 gameplay video was pretty freaking good even by uncharted standards.

Crying? Those people should probably kill themselves. Anyhow, FF7 is a timed exclusive, right? And it seems to be a ways off....

Playing Xbox360 titles on Xbox One was pretty huge, that and the 1TB HD is going to make me move a bit earlier to buy one. It's pretty cool how they pulled of engineering for it but we'll see how many 3rd party titles will be available as it's at the publishers discretion.

I thought it was a really solid showing for both.

Crying is a bit much, but it is the best game ever made, so....

Squeenix now has their press conference. Wonder what they can add to the conversation.

Maybe an idea of how far along FFVII is? Eventuality of Tomb Raider reaching PC (and PS4?).

New Soul Reavor? lol

Bethesda for the win.

Falllout 4.
Dishonored 2.
Doom.

And I'm on the hype train for Ubisoft's upcoming slate as well.

Ghost Recon coming back.
Assassin's Creed Syndicate. (I know Unity had major problems, but I love the Assassin's Creed games and universe.)
And finally, the very intriguing "For Honor." (I'm of the opinion that we need more games starring Vikings.)

I want it on record that I think they're going to rape FF7 and destroy everything that made the original so good.

VII should be epic. My guess is, if they change the battle system (the only thing they alluded to), it'll be more like FFX or FFX-2. Hopefully, they'll allow switching characters mid battle, as opposed to doing it on the world map menu.

I predict VII will come out in 2017, the 20th Anniversary of the original game. It could very well come out late 2016, though, as they may already be pretty far in development.

Other than FFVII, Super Mario Maker is the other game that has me stiff in the pants. It's the reason I got a Wii U, & probably the best reason to get any system.

Well, at least they can't translate it any worse. Ogre Nix = Organics, lol.

Which soundtrack do you prefer: 6 or 7? I always flip-flop between the two.

I've never played 6 but 7 is in my top 5 gaming soundtracks.

I think 6's graphics have aged better than 7's, actually. Sure, it's SNES and a little primitive, but it has almost a handcrafted look to it:

FF7 was high-tech for its time and now it just looks like crap. Also, if the new version wants to pare down the jerk-off-till-your-dick-falls-off summons like Supernova and Knights of the Round, that'd be terrif.

Alot of games from the 32-64 bit era didn't age well, especially the graphics. Everyone and everything looks like blocks. And then on the other hand, alot of SNES games still look really pretty.

Always thought the DKC games aged superbly well. Great, great music, especially. I still play them on the emulator now and then, though it's probably been at least a year now.

2d side scrollers definitley aged better than the first generation of the 3d era. I put in FF7 last night for a trip down memory lane and noticed how weird it felt to have to use the dpad to move around in the world. You don't really have that problem in 2d side scrollers. Feels more natural.

Have to put aside graphics sometimes. The graphics were nice in FF7 at the time, but they certainly didn't make the game.

Hopefully someone told this to the people working on the remake.

Well, no, don't get me wrong. I want them to do it up on the remake.

But I can appreciate games from past generations just fine no matter what they look like. If the gameplay, story, soundtrack etc was solid back then, it is solid now.

This will be tough to pull off, and it won't be as good as the original.

But if it improves some things and opens the game up to a new batch of players, I'm all for it. (I've learned a surprising amount of people have never played FF7)

One weekend only? :)

While a similar Materia system will be a must, I truly wonder what combat system will be used. I would love turn based active ATB, but it is 2015. Not sure that would bring in new fans.

It's my 2nd favorite FF, but I'd be surprised if I bought it. I played through it multiple times, the first time when I could, and sometimes did, play it 12 hours a day. Without being able to do that it's not the same. While the graphics were awesome at the time, it isn't why I played it. If there are improvements other than graphics though, I'll consider it.
