It was a good race despite the broadcast. I don't think any of the broadcasters brought any feel for open wheel racing. And that includes Danica.

That was one of the worst broadcasts I can remember. They had all kinds of issues mostly with the director who it didn't seem had ever worked a race before. The announcers should of known about the traffic at the end. They seemed as surprised as we were. They have spotters who calculate that and should of been talking about the traffic several laps before the leaders came up on them.

It was pretty surprising Dixon and Rossi couldn't do anything after they went a lap down early. They're 2 of the fastest drivers in the series with 2 of the best cars and they couldn't do anything after they got caught out on that 1st yellow. These cars just don't let the drivers ability come thru. In 1995 Villeneuve went 2 laps down and came back to win the race.

The broadcast just seemed loud to me and crowded.

Yeah...way too many commercials to be bouncing around like they were.

They had at least 3 groups of broadcasters, and I’m not sure what was different about each group. Each one had a former driver (Paul Tracey, Jimmie Johnson and Danica).

None seemed to provide much insight—they harped on veterans vs youth quite a bit, but that’s sort of obvious.

At one point Danica noted they were driving slower (215 vs 230) to conserve fuel. I was wondering how anyone can think that makes a race more interesting or entertaining—in fact, just the opposite is true.

They had a beardo in the infield talking about the massive party going on...there was like 10 people there. They only went to him once that I saw.

Until one of my cousins realized that he couldn't get a hotel room in Indy the other night while passing through on his way to Columbus, I had completely forgotten that the race existed.

The lead-up coverage was great by NBC.

But then they have to use an Aussie for the commentary. Why?

It's an American race!! Tell the Aussie to go cook the shrimp on barbie.

That was scary. Watching live I thought it got into the stands. That would have killed some people.

I saw a clip of it. I liked that he wore his Stanley Cup ring. I just wish he had pointed to something with it at the end.

That was a terrible broadcast. Not only way too many commercials but when they would finally come back instead of going back to race they would go to some feature that nobody cares about. Then they would show the race for a few minutes then leave for commercials again. The best one was when they came back after 10 minutes of commercials then did a feature on Purdue's big drum then showed race for a few minutes and went back to commercials. It was a joke. I always have a bunch of people over on 500 day and nobody cared about the race. They would watch for a few minutes then leave after more commercials. It sounds like ratings were pretty bad again even though race wasn't terrible until the end.
