As someone that really never watches nascar, this is kind of cool to see.

Disclaimer: i don’t live, work, really go to the city. So the month of pain in the ass closures, etc. don’t impact me. I completely understand hating it if you have to deal with the headaches for a good chunk of summe.

As the track dries and they get closer to the finish with track tires, this will get nuts.

Especially if they keep driving in the dark.

I don't either. A "race' where they have to slow down to 45mph doesn't seem to fit the spirit of NASCAR where cars can top out at close to 200mph. But here I am watching the end of it.

I enjoyed watching because it was in Chicago, but otherwise it was sort of boring. Too many cautions, limited speeds, tight and difficult to pass.

Too bad it was so wet—it might be better if the weather is better next year.

Road courses they do this, I actually must say I enjoyed the race, it was very enjoyable.

I should have stayed under the canopy on Michigan Ave, sitting on my lawn chair, drinking beer. Next year I'll turn down the free tickets. General admission tickets are garbage. I hope this is a complete flop and they go back to Chicagoland speedway.

Actually should be held at Road America if you want a good road course race.

so if your GA, you're just on the street behind the walls? that has to be pretty boring and frustrating.

The little bit of footage I watched today didn't leave me with any excitement about any future races. Too many turns and too slow. It's an interesting concept but I think the course would need to be widened up a bit for it to be entertaining.

As a complete NASCAR novice, I would agree. Some of those turns seemed actually tighter than if you were just driving down the street on a regular day. Makes it hard to actually race.

As a one time experience, I enjoyed watching it. It won't make me watch NASCAR this week, and I might not care if they do it again next year.

You'll always miss too much action as a viewer if you go to a road course race to justify going IMO. Give me an oval where I can sit high and see the entire racetrack. The races at Road American, as with many road courses, have been quite boring since the new Next Gen car handles so much better than the previous generation car. Better-handling cars and improvements that drivers have made have resulted in fewer driver mistakes which leads to less chaos and less excitement overall. Plus, there's much less contact on the road course than there used to be.

Nascar added several road courses to the schedule since they used to provide great racing but now the pendulum has swung back with this new car favoring intermediate tracks. Nascar needs to change back their schedule favoring intermediate tracks for next season. Oh they'll say they have a tweak for the cars to improve the racing but history tells us that the changes won't be as effective as they suggest. While they are obligated to the Chicago street course next summer, switching back to Chicagoland would be a great choice. Granted, I didn't see Sunday's race and I read that it was very entertaining to watch on TV so that is at least promising.
