I realize I'm a whiny bitch about the races being on cable and me with antenna, but that is how you build the audience- give the product away free everywhere else in the country. ref: Cubs WGN glory days, rasslin on tv Friday nights, hell, even the Pro Bowling on ABC Saturday morning!

1). Boring racing- Pocono, 1.5 cookie cutters, even though Indy has prestige, it will be a boring race. They even made one of best races (Bristol) and by repaving it made it rather lackluster.

2) Jeff Gordon and Jr do not win enough. It was Gordon's and Jr's popularity that made Nascar surge but no one has replaced them.

3) Jimmy Johnson is neither hated nor loved.

4). Expensive race tickets, horrible traffic, HD, DVR- while tickets have dropped in price they are still fairly expensive. You sit in traffic for hours when going to a race at many racetracks and it is all-day event. Plus, with HD and DVR it makes staying at home a much more attractive alternative.

5) Cautions and commercials- it is brutal to watch races live. So many fans DVR races to FF to actual racing. I wonder how this relates to ratings.

I think all of these have contributed to the decreased popularity of Nascar.

Sports car/touring/rally is such a niche type of racing. American open wheel racing is dead, Formula 1 is a joke for for all sorts of reasons. Sprint cars, stock cars and drag racing hold American interests. I need more than just ovals and straight line speed. Ugh.

I would love to go to LeMans. I have been to the Petit LeMans at Road Atlanta and Sebring a few times and they were great events.

It shouldn't be, but it is. I've given up caring if other people care or not. I've gotten back into IndyCar, and I went to Indy for IMSA, And am going to Road America this weekend, then VIR in two weeks after that. FTW!!
