A LOT of empty seats. Nascar can go ahead and stop coming to this track. Two races at Michigan and Bristol, throw Backyard in there too. No need for this Kentucky race. Would rather see there guys at Newton Iowa or Eldora. :D

Kese and Logano will lead the restart. Harvick with yet another bad pit stop. Its so bad, even De lana's wig is upset.

Eldora isn't even sold out this year - and it's only a couple weeks away.

OK...so I'm a racing dummy.

What explains the NASCAR attendance problems?

From what I googled, they moved the races out of the southeast and the new fans aren't sticking.

HD tv, but the ratings are down. The bubble from 2008 when corporate America crapped itself and pulled a lot of sponsorship. Tickets and an event weekend can be expensive. I'm sorry I'm poor too.

Lots of reasons, but don and I could name a couple dozen for you if you'd like:

1. Too many 1.5 mile tracks. They are all the same and pretty much.....bad. Tonight is one example, as is the one in Joliet.
2. Drivers lost their personalities - meaning everything is so corporate and sponsor-driven, drivers are pretty careful about what the say/do every week.
3. Lost a couple tracks in the SE as Hussra said

Spank can probably speak better than me on this, but I was under the impression a sponsor would get a big stack of tickets for putting their name on the hood. I really dont know if this changed or was reduced or ever happened at all.

Where does ticket prices for the public rank as a reason?

I will say this about Kentucky:

In the 4 years they've been there, they had the epic "traffic disaster" in year 1 - that turned people off.
It had to be 100 degrees+ the second year (I was there, it sucked)
Last year it got rained out

That's some bad "luck" that would drive people away. Especially for $$$$ tickets.
We sat in the upper level between s/f line and turn 1 and they were $88 2 years ago. That's alot to cook in your own juices in the heat all day.

"Win on Sunday, buy on Monday"

When Chevy went away from Monte Carlo and went to Impala, which doesnt even come in a coupe is another reason. These newer cars look nothing like the showroom model.

How many of us have even seen a Chevy SS on the road?

I'd say it's a real problem also - but only at certain tracks.

We go to the Brickyard every year - and we sit in the infield. We get to come/go all weekend long, see 4 races (2 road course races, Nationwide, and Cup) for something like $75 total for 3 days. The kids are free. And we get to bring in all of our food and drink for free.

Also - I should say that you can get an infield pass for the Brickyard (Cup race only) for like $25-$30.

A caution happened for some reason or another. Gor-don had an air gun malfunction.

Well, pit stops are where people are making moves up and down.

Green at lap 131. Team Penske back to the front 1-2.

Debris.
To TNT's credit, they showed it, looked like a spring or something similar - and it was rolling right through the middle of the track in the middle of a turn.

NASCAR could do themselves a big favor by showing the debris every single time.

Surely you aren't doubting the cautions from NASCAR?

I really dont understand how with all the cameras and radio chatter that every piece is shown on tv.

Integrity of the races themselves have also affected interest in Nascar. And that abomination of a website Nascar has.

My pick at this point says its Kyle or Brad K's race to lose.

No Logano? I think Kyle Busch will figure out a way to screw it up.

Green at lap 160. Team Penske still 1-2.

I want to change my pick.

100 laps left, only 25 cars on the lead lap.

Speaking of racing integrity......

Did you happen to catch the Indy Car race in Houston today? OMFG.......that was a joke. Shout-out to Plainfield's own Dale Coyne racing on the big win though....
