Dead at 91, was in everything. Lived to see the end of Twin Peaks, a damn fine way for him to go out.

Excellent actor. Repo Man would be my personal favorite from his catalogue.

Good call, Hawaii.

I liked him in the 1973 movie Dillinger, one of the most violent films of its day. Check out this 3 minute clip for those unfamiliar with the film:

Five legends that are getting ready to bite the bullet:

Clint Eastwood (87)
Gene Hackman (87)
Sean Connery (87)
Robert Duvall (86)
James Earl Jones (86)

And then there's another wave of guys born in the late 30s like Jack Nicholson, Dustin Hoffman, Anthony Hopkins, Morgan Freeman, Harvey Keitel, Jon Voight, Christopher Lloyd, etc.

You're gonna be saying "Damnit, another good one gone" like once a month.

My thought, too.

I thought he was just one of those guys that looked older than he was.

But I guess he was pretty old.

Or I am.

Enjoyed him immensely in an odd role in Wild at Heart.

for a guy who was perpetually The Old Man, he had a great career. RIP. But he was certainly very well used as an actor. "pretty in pink" was one of my fav's.

Doug Benson named a game after him on his podcast. He just rereleased that podcast, it is amusing.

In Godfather II, he played one of the FBI guys guarding Frankie Pentangeli in the Army barracks right before his "testimony" against Michael Corleone...

FBI GUY: "You got a big day tomorrow. Got you a new suit, a new shirt, new tie - I'm gonna shave you myself in the morning - and you're gonna look respectable for fifty million of your fellow Americans."

FRANK: "Mort' - my life - my life won't be worth a nickel after tomorrow."

The film, or HDS's role? That film underutilized HDS. He could have given it some realism. That was almost a really good film--a little work and that story could have been exceptional.

Man, you could win a dead pool by picking actors who were in Twin Peaks: The Return...

Warren Frost
Catherine E. Coulson
Miguel Ferrer
Harry Dean Stanton

He was great though, one of the most prolific character actors to ever live.

Catherine Coulson died almost two years ago. Also, David Bowie died before they could film his parts and they had to replace him with a giant tea kettle.

One of the best character actors of his generation. Not sure why he wasn't a bigger star in Hollywood. Loved him in everything. He was great in Christine.

Just saw him this week on an episode of two and a half men. Was funny.
