He was a LOT more dominant for a few years, but yea, looking at it from a skills standpoint long-term he wasn't better than Kobe.

But I also wonder what he would have been if he didn't get so damn ripped. I think part of his clunkiness was due to his workout regimen. He got too big, and that can be a problem for offense.

I'm the guy who hate watches nearly every Lakers game. He is still an incredible player. Not a winner, but a player. Takes far too many jump shots, although he hits a fair amount of threes for a guy who is so bulked. I have no doubt he's on something. He hasn't played defense for years, looks great on the highlight reels as a guy who comes over and blocks shots as a weak side defender but literally takes quarters off on defense if not games. What separates Kobe and Jordan from him is his lack of killer instinct. He plays to protect himself. And he knows exactly where every camera is in the place.
