I'm surprised he didn't blow it all up after he turned 66.

I've said it before, though it's an unpopular opinion, Jerry Krause was more important to the 6 titles than Phil Jackson.

I would say Stan Bowman is gaining quickly. Quite more of a degree of difficulty in the salary cap era. The Pippen Draft Day deal might be the greatest trade in NBA history though.

The NBA had a salary cap too.

That's your first thought but the NBA had all sorts of loopholes to keep your own etc.

Marian Hossa being signed until 2035 would agree with you.

Stan came in under sane management and doesn't have to take any guff from his star players even while winning.

Jerry was put, and to some extent put himself, through the mill and then some.

Krause is #2 on the list behind Stan Bowman....I'm pretty sure Theo / Jed have the potential to knock him down to #3.

None of the 6 titles happen without Jordan falling in their lap. That's not to say Krause didn't add the correct supporting cast...he did for sure. I do agree, however, that Krause had more to do with it than PHEEEEL.\

Years ago, he was at a table across the room from us at Max and Benny's.

RIP, Crumbs.

None of the Hawks titles happen without Kane and Toews falling in their lap either.

Bowman has a lot of work to do to catch Krause.

CH would have to confirm but Hossa was the last of the contracts before the true draconian rules. Either way the NBA has so many rules and exceptions to keep teams together differs from the NHL where you really can't.

reviewing some facts, I'll concede Krause is currently at the top of the list.

Well, one of the most important players on those teams, and I would assume the most important free agent, used one of the largest loopholes that has probably ever existed.

Richards and Carter got long-term frontloaded contracts after Hossa did, and the Ilya Kovalchuk contract was the last hurrah for cap circumvention and prompted the recapture rule in the 2012-13 lockout.

Of course Krause is the best GM ever in town.

SO FAR.

The Bulls don't become what they became without the Pippin and Rodman trades.
