Is it just me, or did they way ESPN handled this seem pretty fucked up? They basically made it an event for other media outlets to cover(deadspin), entertaining...., sure, but pretty fucked up for those impacted.

I'm surprised they didn't livecast it calling it The Decison 2 and have Jim Gray read the names

I was thinking that as well.

They were basically building it up through the day with the biggest names toward the end.

Weird.

I think we can assume 90%+ of these folks are good people, most are handling it very well. There should be a bumper crop of potential new voices for however many area stations/basement podcasts need talent. With Mike/Mike breaking up, I would certainly welcome two locals in morning drive on AM1000, and everyone seems to have other 670/1000 slot-fillers they want gone, this could be the impetus for some real CHANGE!

So ESPN gets rid of Doug Glanville yet keeps Boone and Mendoza? Little wonder they lose viewers

Would love to see Glanville take over David DeJesus' role.

He is very good and very smart, he'll end up on MLB network soon.

Mendoza and Boone are just plain useless and not very bright.

Glanville is another person who could step into Score middays.

I'm sure all these layoffs are just to free up money for when they sign Bill O'Reilly.

Did Brian Windhorst get canned? I really dislike that guy.

If you combined King Kong Bundy and Jonah Hill then subtracted a chromosome you'd get Windhorst.

Britt McHenry is on the list.

She hasn't gone public, but Wilbon spilled the beans saying she texted him.
He just deleted his tweet that said so.
He also mentioned Buccigross, but that may be due to the earlier mix up. Not sure.

You think Buccigross might come over and call Hawks games?

WHY ARE THEY STILL RUNNING MARTY SMITH REPORTS FROM ROME FOLLOWING THE MICHIGAN FOOTBALL TEAM AROUND WITH A CAMERA CREW ON THE DAY THEY FIRE 100+ PEOPLE?!

And, on that note, WHY IS MARTY SMITH IN ROME WITH A FILM CREW FOLLOWING THE MICHIGAN FOOTBALL TRAM FOR DAILY 5 MINUTE REPORTS?!

Isn't this, like, root cause of your problems, frivolous bullshit?

Baseball coverage really gets whacked - Glanville, Stark, Braden, Bowden, Ibanez so far. And Ravech supposedly getting cut way back. They are getting killed by MLB Network, and this is going to make it worse.

Can we please get Glanville to either do pre/post on CSN or better yet take over for Coomer next year? Pat Hughes with a partner who can actually formulate thoughts would be amazing, he's never had that in Chicago.

If I still had ESPN (I'm part of their revenue problem) I would miss Hannah Storm on Sunday mornings if she's cut back as well.

I find it bizzare that the day before the NFL draft, they layoff these NFL people. Like you couldn't lay off 75 people today and on Monday lay the NFL guys off? I kind of wonder how their coverage is gonna go, but I am an NFLN guy.

Why is a former Motocross racer one of their feature reporters? I just have never really been a fan. He tries to blend in and be "one of the
guys" during most of his reports but he never gets much in the way of substance. I haven't been legitimately surprised by any of the folks
let go yet. All I know is that they are getting paid way too much for what they do and can understand trimming the fat.

The MLB Network is my preferred station. Their live cut in and solid studio work is top notch. I devote a man cave tv to it all baseball season. I'd love to see more Glanville in Chicago. I hope the MLB Network picks up the best of the guys let go.

Timing had something to do with Disney's financials.

Maybe Dennis or Mike North know.
