Director of "Poltergeist", "Life Force", and a little movie called "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre". Dead at 74. One of the last of the pioneers of modern horror films...Romero, Craven and Hooper. Only a matter of time for Carpenter I guess.

Life Force had that great nude shot. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre had the feel of a nightmare--the anxiety, the powerlessness. Amazing feat.

Poltergeist was superb. Still so much fun.

It's sad how bastardized Texas Chainsaw Massacre has become. That original is still great. Love Poltergeist too. When the dead bodies are just popping up in the pool and the neighborhood... love that scene.
