Scheduled to be shutdown on 12/15/17. I just tried to resurrect my old username, but it appears AOL might have killed it.

The 90's are now officially dead.

AIM was better than gchat and everything is better than facebook chat. Good piece of software, RIP.

I'm not really sure why they would kill it. The support to continue it has to cost almost zero, and does AOL even have another product out there that people might use?

I mean, I haven't had actual AIM in like seven years. I just route it through Pidgin with gchat so that gchat resembles AIM. (Doesn't work with Facebook chat.) There are only like two old, old message board friends I still use the AIM account for.

When I was in high school, everyone from LG had the old MSN Messenger but everyone from everywhere else used AIM. Never understood.

AOL owns the mail app for iOS and Android called Alto. It is actually one of the best free email app available. But I agree, not much cost to keep it running I'm sure.

I wasted so much of my parents electricity just so I could have an away message.

Just tried my Bizkitdude69 login, it also did not work.

I lost my aim and msn messenger account passwords a long time ago. I think I only used them to talk to three or four people.

Fuck.... I should back up my buddy list cuz over the last ~17+ years I've usurped so many names on the thing that just scrolling through all the old screen names that haven't been on in 10+ years = a veritable time capsule that's gonna take you back to the past to talk about the shitty chats that sucked ass! (Yes, </AVGN> here =)

Thankfully I took a screenshot of my AOL buddy list circa 2002-04 or something so I'm able to look at all these long defunct names and get nice and nostalgic...

btw feel free to ICQ me @ 14486853 if you want!

Why did you have yourself listed on your buddy list?
