Dead from cancer.

Another solid character actor.

Understatement. He was awesome in every show I ever saw him in.

Sucks. Part of what made The Wire great.

Had a few lines in The Mask, too, that I will always remember, for some reason.

"The Doctor, is about...To operate."

Later died after The Mask foiled their robbery and he got shot by the cops.

Was absolutely fantastic on House of Cards, one of the only characters in the series that didn't come off as clinically insane.

Yeah, he played a great swinging dick. It was cool in American Psycho when he played against type as the helpless homeless guy.

We are CFMB. So no lies between us. He wasn’t the greatest actor. He wasn’t the worst. He put down some good roles and he dogged a few bad ones, but the motherfucking man had his moments, yes he fucking did. The Corner, House of Cards... he brought those shows home. And telling Carcetti the last white man he voted for was Bobby Kennedy... that was Reg Cathey at his best. And uh, The Wire, season 4, he took a lot of hot scenes and made them better. Yes, indeed. He, uh, he won as much as he lost, as much as any of us.

‘Oh for Christ sake, RPB, play the fucking song already’

Did he piss off a viewer or three? No fucking doubt. I think the last one actually kinda got used to him, thank God. Did he say the wrong shit now and then? Did he bust balls and cheat on Carcetti’s campaign and forget to call his mother and fuck the wrong broad for the wrong fucking reason every now and then? Who fucking doesn't, Christ? Was he as full of shit as every other sadsack motherfucker holding a card at the Screen Actor’s Guild? Abso-fucking-lutely. His shit was as weak as ours, no question. But Reg E Cathey stood with us, all of us in the Movies & TV section, working, sharing a dark corner of the American experiment. He was called. He served. He is counted. Old King Cathey!

I remember him from when I was a kid and watching Square One TV. I was such a nerd.
