I guess she can stop thinking about tomorrow after all.

Isn't that hard to believe? It always freaks me out that lotsa rock stars are only 8 years younger than my mom, who is 87. Yet (and I mean the American ones, especially) they seem like they are from completely different planets than the one my mom is from.

I have a similar experience to yours, Tommy. My mom grew up during the peak rock-and-roll era, but she listens almost exclusively to Barbara Streisand, Englebert Humperdink, and Bing Crosby. And, for some reason, the Dixie Chicks.

I get that. In this case she is the same age as my dear departed dad would have been. And older than my mom.

Yes! That is exactly what I mean!

When I started teaching high school, I said something like, "Well, none of you listen to the same music as your parents," and I was surprised that (among the white kids, at least) they and their dads both listened to Led Zeppelin. Many assumptions were destroyed that day.

Totally agree....played keys as well.

I have always found Fleetwood Mac to e highly overrated, but I fully admit Lindsay Buckingham is a phenomenal musician and Christine McVie was highly underrated. I would argue her song "You Make Loving Fun" is their best song.

"Silver Springs" and "Landslide" are Fleetwood Mac's two best songs. Both were written by Stevie Nicks.

True, but I always enjoyed McVie's voice more than Nicks' voice. Let's be honest, they're basically a lite rock/pop act. The quality/catchiness of the vocals are hugely important in that genre.

I saw Stevie Nicks at Ravinia this summer. She was great.

Bad person, writes a song about cheating on her husband with a member of the crew and then her husband plays on said song...

**Just kidding, that is pretty rock and roll of her...**

I seriously thought/think kids i know listen to a lot of the music of their parents. I know that I did at least with my own mom and others in my family. I know my sons listen to a lot of the diverse stuff I listen to.

Plus they both got a kick out of me pointing out where certain beats, lyrics and rhymes were sampled from. Especially when I compared Joey Badass directly to hip hop artists from the early nineties.

I used to enjoy pointing that out to my “it’s all new” sons

But how and where many samples the Native Tongues artists got still amazes me

Kids used to kill me with the "but they made it sound better" even after you illustrate how the track has been sampled 4-5 times prior to their getting up on it too.

There are some pretty savvy kids when it comes to music. Some of them really know their stuff. What gets me are the ones that wear the t-shirts of all the classic rock guys or old school hip hoppers but can't name one song of the artist whose T Shirt that they are rocking.

I think every James Brown song has been sampled 100x
