It was funny, especially at 10am on a summer morning with only two channels to watch while waiting on kids to finally come outside. And then with only one or two video games worth a damn yet.

They all addressed societal issues, head on. Even Fonzie dealt with racial and family issues. Maude, Chico and the Man, All in the Family, Good Times, The Jefferson's, etc. were practically built around justice issues.

The cool thing about those shows is that sometimes, the joke was on everyone, even the bleeding-hearts. The Meathead often looked really stupid, as did Maude occasionally.

Apart from that, George Jefferson was stubborn as Awch, and JJ's dad sometimes made decisions out of anger, as we all do. I liked that about all those characters. Otherwise, they're insufferable (like Maude could have been) or we are supposed to feel sorry for them (like Mr. Evans and Florida).

My only real complaint is that they should have found a hot-ass milf to play Maude. I know that is sexist, and that daughter filled some gaps, but here you have a golden opportunity to give back, and you drop the ball.
