Remember Bob Lassiter? He was an angry dude all the way to the grave.

Yep. Was Lassiter (Or was it Marvin) that worked under two different names? I remember one of the guys on LS working late nights that they later discovered was using 2 professional names while he worked.

Kind of begs the question: part of the old fun things about radio was that you listened so regularly that it felt like you knew the hosts personally. Having a drink with North, Boers or say AJ Parker(WGCI early nineties) seemed natural. Friendly even. When was the last time that was common?

The night FF spilled three drinks and tried to steal the cut out at RTS. Bernsie was drinking wine in a bar, Speigs was gorging on someone’s basket of fried shit, and we proved Bernsie is about 5’6” with that picture of me next to him.

I have no idea why taking crap like that seemed like a good idea as a knucklehead young man. And yeah, the notion that Bernstein was taller than 5’6” is laughable.

FF is a good time. He also debates almost anything even when he is completely off base….

I miss those days with IMU, Leash, FF and others.

I remember listening to Jay Marvin with my dad when I was a kid. It used to be that 890 would make room for some interesting local programming instead of just satellite right-wing crap.

Use to love his late night show on 890. In a time where the AM dial was full of right wing talk radio with Rush Limbaugh at the height of his reign, Jay was a breath of fresh air. That thing he did in the start of the show where he took unscreened calls 'WLS!?!?' was one of the funniest bits.

I was pretty much a conservative person back then but Jay influenced me to lean more left in my later years.

R.I.P. Guy was a real American Hero. More than that fake pos draft dodger Rush.

What a nosedive Chicago radio options have taken from Jay Marvin's heyday to today with guys like Lawrence Holmes polluting the airwaves.

I think people are afraid of the public.

Which some were 20 years ago as well.

Was producing a show at taste of Chicago in the late 90's with North and Jiggs. A guy walks up in front of the stage in a military uniform and a 1000 mile stare. Jiggs was terrified. His army fatigues had the name P. DeLeon on them. I had to spend the rest of the show standing between the two of them.

Had to get Jiggs a police escort out of the park to his car.

I think that was part of bigfan's vision for fixing the Taste, smaller portions and fewer traumatized veterans.

It’s always shocked how so many people seem to have their identity wrapped up in doing harm to a “celebrity” as if it validates their existence. I guess it goes all the way back to the Manson family days and I can’t really blame the celebrities.
