Tragically dead at 82.

One of my favorite Cubs as a yoot. I think I still have that baseball card.

My sister was born with a heart defect. Wasn't supposed to live more than a year but made it to 21.

She was in the hospital all the time at Northwestern and her favorite player was Joe Pepitone. He came to the hospital and gave her a signed bat.

Before my time but from what I heard he was a very nice guy and also quite the player back in the day and I don't mean just on the field.

The first MLB player to use an electric blow dryer on his hair (rumored toupee) in the clubhouse.

1972 Topps were cool.

I preferred 1971 Topps format.

Meh. Of the years I collected, 1969, my first, still is my favorite.

'69 was good. I did like 1972 but it seemed too flashy.

1975 was a strange format.

But, I just have to go with my gut as a youth, 1977 Topps, airbrushed helmets and all, that's where my heart is....

That is an amazing story. I'm guessing there wasn't any press, or publicity.

And sorry for loss. Was she older or younger than you?

No press. She was 15 years older than me. Passed away in 1977.

The comment about your sister put a tear in my eye Dr. Ken. She beat the odds as long as she good, god bless her. Thank you for that story. Humanizes people around here for the positive.
