I think his family is just respecting what he put in writing. The man was minutes from death, and still logged on to read the board, but he never shared anything about his health with a community he spent 20 years in.

That was the biggest thing that struck in me in regards to this death other than the shock, he literally came on the board when he had to know the time was extremely near. Tells you all you need to know about how he felt about this place.

Yeah, this community was clearly important to him. It's important to most of the people who've spent years sharing their thoughts on this dying medium.

Really good points by Nas and Ass. I had never thought about Reader's connection to the board quite like that.

No offense, but if I am minutes away from death, I am not coming here to post about sports or politics. Would hope to be surrounded by my loved ones in my final minutes.

Yeah, stubbornly needing a distraction/entertainment may not be for you. You also haven't been a daily contributor in about a decade. His family was around. As they described it, once a particular cousin show up, he let go of the rope.

Do you know he wasn't surrounded by loved ones? My guess is, and I fairly damn confident, is there were plenty of loved ones close by.

You're in no position to judge what somebody may want to read while on their deathbed. I'm sure there are thousands of people that watched a shitty Cubs game during their last moments on Earth. If that's how they decide to go out, more power to 'em.

Yep! I wouldn't allow the knocking from the Grim Reaper to stop me from doing anything that I enjoyed. Even watching shitty Bears football.

Shitty Cub games is what assisted in my grandmothers decline. She must have smoked a whole pack of unfiltered Marlboro cigarettes during a game.

I have her Wrigleyville fridge magnet my grandfather picked up from the gas station in the late 80's and it still smells like smoke.

The movie is 34 years old and I still have to pay for it? Can't be that good.

Somebody just stole Dr. Ken Jr. I's identity and spent $2500 at a podiatrist in Hinsdale.

That dude knows how to party. Dr. Ken Jr. I is about to move to Indiana as well. Thought you might appreciate that.

It's on Netflix but I guess you do have to pay for Netflix.

I don't think I've ever watched it though.

Sorry about the identity theft. A podiatrist fee is something

Glad to hear your son is going to get some Indiana time. Is it region time or the corn filled part of the state?

OK, thanks. I found it.

Might do it now. I'm not setting up my gear though. I'll see what my phone sounds like.

Over by South Bend designing efficient packaging solutions for Amazon and Walmart.

He's going to live in a nicer house than I have. The old Dr. Kenneth Noisewater and His Children skits were closer to reality than I realized at the time.

Damn... At a podiatrist.

I feel better about having my credit card used to buy online games yesterday.

It was $2000 for jewelry on a different card last month. They knew how to party.
