Why does he think the Disney brand would be tarnished by gambling. Christ, when moms are waiting in line for it’s a small world they are betting on nfl games.

And dads are jerkin it to xhamster in Disney owned hotel rooms right at this moment and any other moment in time. Doesn't mean Disney should or could partner with porn sites and not have it impact the public perception of the Disney brand.

Disney branded/licensed products and content outstrip every other brand on the planet, bringing in nearly $60 billion in revenue and are the biggest revenue stream for Disney--10x what Disney makes from its various park properties. Mickey Mouse is bigger business than Jesus, Michael Jordan and Michael Jackson's corpse combined. Iger doesn't wanna be the steward who bet on completely marrying the mouse to gambling and having it collapse the entire bullshit enterprise.

Whoops, if you go by licensing alone Pokemon and Hello Kitty top Mickey? Star Wars is 4th?!@? Who buys this crap anyhow.

Disney slipping down the rankings and having their licensing lunch eaten by strange asian cartoon characters is all the more reason for Iger to tread carefully when making decisions that could take the mouse too far outside the family/kid-friendly domain.

How about the proliferation of public pot-smoking?

Yeah, that's right up there, too. The L is unbearable now. Everyone smoking everything on 30-minute headways. It's a jungle out there.

Don’t forget Hatchetman’s alley.

The proliferation of gambling here is Not a Good Thing™️ especially not for sports viewers. I’m glad rich people make even more money off it, but as a fan it sure doesn’t make the product any better.

Gambling has existed for more than 5000 years. The government should have been getting a cut of the action.

Mormons and Jews built Las Vegas while looking down on gambling. You're a sucker from the minute you land.

If you listen to Steve Fezzick on his various podcast/radio show appearances, it's camel-through-the-eye-of-a-needle difficult for anyone to net profit gambling against Vegas--and Fezzick makes his living doing just that; or at least he used to (2 time NFL Super Contest Winner, yadda). Now he does radio and sells touts and gambles seemingly mostly to keep up the appearance of being a big-time Vegas gambler to sell the radio appearances and season subscriptions to his picks.

Even if you're good and develop an edge against the books, you win too often and the books will shut you down. So these guys end up using runners to place bets, although even that gets sussed out and shut down. Tho I'd think if I were the gambling industry writ large I'd want some Fezzicks out there being visible "winners" as a way to draw more people into gambling. Sorta like how the Dream Team going to Europe inspired a bunch of slow-footed, never gonna touch the rim Euros to pick up a basketball.

If you’re that good at gambling there is now a way to not get shut down by the books. Just get 10 accounts on fan duel and draft kings. Gone is the need to walk into sports books with 50k in cash to make a bet where everyone is onto you.

Granted, then you have to pay taxes. So maybe do the off shore. Those are still around.

Don't they KYC heavily on the legal gambling sites? I've tried using them and they ask for too much I think to have more than 1 account. I just bounce around various off-shores still, but probably I'll need to sign up for these legit sites soon enough. Off-shores are fine as long as you pay in and pay out with btc and don't leave a large balance just sitting in your account. Some of them (Ladbrokes) you have to VPN to get into even.
