So Mike met up with Uncle Jerry and now bag day at the cell is off. Jerry must have turned up the heat on old Mikey and he buckled.

It could have just been because it was a really stupid idea. The team isn't playing well, many players have regressed, and they have to go a different direction. You don't make the playoffs every year in baseball and good players turn bad and then turn good quickly. He probably thinks if we had Aaron Rowand and McCarthy we would be in first place.

The team sucks, but is going to retool quickly, especially if a lot of teams are fighting for the playoffs. Someone will overpay for one of our pitchers, Jermaine Dye, and maybe even someone else. They'll make a big free agent signing, and we have to hope that the division gets easier.

Bag days are for teams that suck for 10 years or make completely boneheaded decisions constantly.

I agree with your agreement with me. It is curious, but if he had to have the owner of the Sox explain to him why it was a dumb idea, then maybe Mike North is not as smart as I thought.

North said that next year at this time, he would consider doing it if the team stunk again. As for this year, he says he can't do it because he's a fan. Not sure if that means he wouldn't be a fan next season...

Which way is the wind blowing? How much time do we need to fill for the next segment?

I wouldn't count on a quick rebuilding. There wasn't much of a market for Buehrle, our most valuable commodity, so why will teams overpay for Vazquez, Garland or Dye? Right now, Dye's value is virtually nothing due to his injury situation. And even is someone overpays for a pitcher, the return in trade will only be a couple of high level prospects who may or may not work out.

Remember how North used to say something like "we can speak freely since we're not beholden to the rights holder" in the good old pre-670 days? But now the tail is wagging the dog.

Miss a little . . .

The board no longer considers it a dud, spmack. Upon Krazy Ivan's prodding, I released some more info on the pending potential announcement.

Who are you crapping? You remain the creator of the worst thread in the history of the board.

Don't let jealousy rear it's ugly head, Midge. This story has all the potential to be THE bomb if it's announced.

Relax, Midge. I've only been giving status updates on the situation when it's been requested. If you don't want the most current information on the potential future announcement, don't inquire.

It's a shame that the sarcastic tone of most of those requests has apparently been lost on you.

If you have something to say, say it. But don't make vague promises and then deliver nothing. And that's all you've done so far.

Sarcasm is so easy to read on the internet.

I take solace in the fact that ultimately, laughable, ludicrous stories are refuted. Even “so-called” Internet gossip never includes "news-quality" guesswork by readers yearning at negating truths.
