Set sail for the big ocean in the sky.

Wish I got one more concert before he passed.

I know there will inevitably be a number of posters who bash him, but attending his concerts was always one of the highlights of Summer for me. It was just pure fun. The drunken craziness was part of the experience, but they (we) were happy drunks. Walking through the hoards of tailgaters felt like a mini-Mardi Gras. We began taking our daughter to shows when she was just 3 and she loved having beach balls tossed to her to punch back into the crowd. For years we would distract her with candy during “Why Don’t We get Drunk and Screw”.

“Some of it’s magic, and some of it’s tragic, but I had a good life all the way”. RIP Jimmy.

Me too. His concerts were part of our summer for MANY years. That fun will be missed.

I've never been, because I was concerned that it would be wall to wall drunken and annoying baby boomers.

Wish I would have made a few more. Best time I ever had at a concert.
Think I will have a few boat drinks today in his memory

Drunk, yes. Annoying, no. Was an atmosphere where you could stop at any random tailgate and 99% of the time someone would give a complete stranger free drinks and free food.

And not all attendees were Boomers. I feel there were as many under 40 as there were over 40 (victims of fate...) :aaargh:

It was pretty well mixed in terms of gender and age. Race, not so much.

It's been discussed here before, but so much of music's impact on one's life is as much of a product of "when", not necessarily "whom"...High School, Summer, Beer and Buffett all kinda blended nicely...for years he would travel the families of his band and crew on their tours, always thought that was cool

how else you gonna attract the milfs to blow ya in the parking lot pre-show at the local shed amphitheater.

I guess you could put on a tour of west coast hip hop acts, but that'd be Image and it'd be dudes not chicks doing the blowin'

I've only heard one of buffets songs, and only seen 1 minute of the hangover, and I agree.

You're a blow job fan not a Buffet fan. It's not gay if someone is sucking your dick, right?

Probably did 8-10 of his shows with my ex wife. I’ll admit that it was generally a good time but I was never a fan of the music, was just there to party. For a guy with mediocre musical and song writing talent he could outmarket the shit out of everyone. CNN said he was worth close to a billion dollars. Craziness.

Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ ... Jimmy was diagnosed with skin cancer 4 years ago that turned into lymphoma, and we're told that was the cause of death. As one close friend put it, "He lived his life in the sun, literally and figuratively." Jimmy began receiving hospice care last week.
