Got a little Ryne Sandberg in him.

I won't begrudge Steve's 15 minutes of fame is his own mind but some of you who went to remotes back in the day can attest that some of these guys thought they were bigger than the shows themselfs. I don't remember Steve walking around with his name on the back of his satin jacket as did "Saluki Jack" or that Goof "Cleveland Mike" wearing a Sweatshirt with his moniker on it but who knows before you know it the village of Elmhurst might have a sign welcoming visitors that reads "Welcome to Elmhurst, home of HOF caller "Elmhurst Steve".

His calls never have anything but a few facts randomly thrown together with no real point.

Here's an idea Steve. Next time, wait until you actually have an new or unique thought before picking up that phone.

The Cardinals are probably going to win the division and they may win the World Series isn't exactly ground breaking stuff.

Stick to flip flopping on moves Jim Hendry has made(Derosa, Bradley).

I was in Texas when the Cowboys flamed out of the playoffs in the first round for the 2nd year in a row and some black guy called in to the Ticket to explain, in a roundabout but seemingly sincere way, that Tony Romo's problem in the post-season was that Jessica Simpson's not the kinda gal who goes down on a fella and that was causing Romo to be all anxious and unrelaxed and that if T.O. was so damn concerned about his QB's success and happiness ("He's my quarterback" ) T.O. should "cowboy up" and do what Jessica wouldn't.

We are very happy, and I certainly hope things will remain as they are until the day I die. Yes, it's very good to have something to focus my attention on besides the 2009 baseball season these days. But while I always hope for a great conclusion for the Cubs in each baseball season, it really will never be a determining factor as to whether or not that summer was a good one for me.
