I don't remember Spiegel backing himself into a corner like he has in '22 with such idiotic takes like his A-Rod isn't authentic one. Making him the stations baseball expert has really exposed his lack of baseball knowledge. He's been confused multiple times preaching his idea of solid baseball data vs inferior data. Its really showing being a non sports guy teamed with another one who are supposed to talk sports 4 hours.

Parkins is earnestly floating the idea of firing Eberflus in order to retain Getsy in the future.

Boomer Esiason addressed Parkins as "narpian" (non-athletic regular person) for his idea. How insulting (but true) for a sports radio host to be called that. Parkins' house of cards as a sports guy charade.seems to be collapsing.

Easy to find a DC, incredibly difficult to find an OC that unlocks a prospect and develops him into a QB1. You also have the fact that your QB1 becomes a huge voice in the direction of your franchise once you sign him to a huge long term deal.

Glad to see Parkins reads the thoughts in the Bears sections, the thoughts shared there are far superior to any of the Bears groupthink you hear on the local media.

It's an astoundingly dumb thought. Fields has four good games. Not enough data on which to crown Getsy as the next genius of the day. Plus as we can see with McDaniel and Hackett not every seemingly bright offensive coordinator is ready for a promotion to the top job. If Fields is who Parkins wants to think he is then at some point it won't matter who the OC is, just like it doesn't matter who the OC is for Mahomes, Rodgers, Allen, etc. You'll need a top executive at HC to bring all three phases of the game together and get the locker room on the same page. Parkins is a little bit like JBills in that it takes very little for him to fall in love with something or someone.

At what point does the NFL figure out, there is a difference between running a team and being an OC/DC? I mean, why can't you pay the HC $500k a year and over pay the OC $5M a year to run the offense?

It's an interesting management problem to think about. In my work I've come across someone who is an excellent manager of tasks - she functions well when charged with executing specific tasks to meet deadlines, deliverables, etc. But upon being promoted to a manager role - where it's less about performing tasks and more about managing people doing tasks/managing processes - she's a tremendous failure. She applies a task-based framework to work when what's really required is a more big picture/strategic kind of framework. It leads to her micromanaging things and getting lost in the details. The root of all this is an inability to leave her task-based orientation behind. You need to relinquish some of the things you used to do because it's now your job to delegate that to someone else and manage them, among other things.

Trestman may be a good example of this. He can run an offense, call plays, teach concepts, etc., but he couldn't manage offense, defense, special teams, and the lockerroom simultaneously. Couldn't step back and think holistically. Hackett might be the same thing - applying task-based approach that served him well as an OC when he needs to be thinking bigger picture.

I'm still trying to figure out what, if any credit should be given to Getsy for the recent success. The bears have only had a competent passing offense for three games. Fields' success on the ground is due largely to him scrambling after the play has broken down. Designing runs for Fields is just too obvious a decision to heap praise on an OC. There's just nothing there to suggest retaining Getsy is a priority at all, let alone firing a head coach to do so. Saying something interesting and stupid for the sake of radio is fine, but parkins seems 100% sincere.

Parkins could be having the worst stretch in the history of the Score

- calling Mike North a racist
- throwing Danny Mac under the bus
- plugged non FDA approved weight loss pills
- pluggd non FDA approved boner pills
- setting up late 60s colleague Hub in Aaron Rodgers MVP vote controversy
- mocked Jack McDowell after he had hung up
- pushed for Fields to start when he obviously wasn't ready
- Cubs first pitch exposed he didn't ever play baseball
- elevating Fields to god-like status after five good games
- disastrous attempt to crown him as a Score football expert visiting other shows
- elevating Getsy to god-like status after five good games
- wanting the head coach fired because the offense has five good games
- guest Boomer Esiason calling him narpian (non athletic regular person) mocking his fire the HC theory

Wiederer ripped into him pretty hard as well yesterday. Parkins tried to compare Fields performance to Josh Allen’s playoff performance, Wiederer wouldn’t have it. Parkins has crowned Fields a top five QB, but Wiederer said he’s going to need to pass more effectively first. He’s a runner that passes, instead of a passer that can run.

Parkins is a prototypical update guy who wiggled his way into being a host with all his family's connections. He'd be an odd fit at espn 1000 with his lack of sports knowledge if the Score plug gets pulled.

It was a hilarious interview. Wiederer is hardly super critical of the Bears but he was taken aback by Parkins absurd views.

Didn't Wiederer look at Audacy's sinking ship financials before joining the Score? What a time to sign on. He'll be bailing water out of the Titanic with Dixie cups soon. Looks like Weiderer & Mark Potash swapped stations (who are both great listens).

Dan Wiederer has totally lost respect for P&S. Like all guests. Parkins just wants to flash his high school champion debating skills. But, DW is extremely bright and no one to think you can walk over in a battle of wits.

I've never heard a regular guest in Chicago sports radio (being 100% serious) asking a host "Are you crazy?" like DW asked DP. Parkins needs to step down. This is getting ugly.

Parkins did come from a well to do family that could help him get to schools and such. But that does not mean that they had connections to get him jobs. He worked his way up the ladder. I don't think his parents did anything other than give him a good start.
