They've only mentioned it 2,114 times though so I'm not sure yet if it's true.

I'm only a couple years younger than him and I have never heard of him. The northside was a small world then, I knew a bunch of kids from LP, LT, Lakeview, Schurz, Taft etc. and this guy is a complete unknown to me or anyone I've kept in touch with. Either he didn't go to CPS (shit, I didn't go to CPS) or he was so socially unremarkable that nobody has any knowledge of him.

I have my doubts about his origins, all I know for certain is he moved to Chicago after graduating from Syracuse.

Just chill out and think of Wilmette as the very north side. The Purple Line runs to Linden!

One time, North called it "the Baja Temple." It was my location for a while.

I didn't run into this guy in high school either so I also have my doubts he's from Chicago.

Did you know that kids in like, southern fucking California 2400 miles from here, know about (and hate) New Trier? They have exported so many insufferable bags of shit across the country that they are a household name across the entirety of Bougie America.

i knew exactly one person from new trier; he told me that on his prom night he went over to the girl who said no to him's house and had a tearful wank on the side of her house over the fact that she wouldn't go to the prom with him. from there i'm pretty sure he was kicked out of purdue after doing some stupid superficial hack on a library webserver or something like that. go figure he was the guy who blew up the long-maintained interaccess.com dialup ISP backdoor; he screwed it up by going into people's e-mails and sending them e-mails from themselves scolding them for their choices in porn and/or other types of internet debauchery. heavy-handed bullshit like that.

otherwise, i hear it's a fine school and it develops WINNERS!

Guy Parkins sounds like a '70s game show host.

He's apparently from Glencoe, went to New Trier and Syracuse. His father probably makes more money than the Bulls starting line-up.

There was a guy on MJH who had a similar background but without the academic smarts (can't believe my memory is getting this bad).

I think Dan from Deerfield/Duke is going to feel much insecurity if Dan from Glencoe/Syracuse starts getting traction.

Just an aside which sounds like something Murph would mention, all the SCORE academics seemed to be named Dan (Jiggets went to Harvard). But then not all Dans on the Score are academics.

It is funny just how hard they are pushing that this guy is NOT FROM KANSAS CITY as if a whole bunch of listeners are going to be like "KANSAS CITY! GET THIS CHIEFS AND ROYALS IDIOT OUT OF CHICAGO!".

If you were able to grow up in any of the Wilmette to Highland Park suburbs and attend some east coast university, you are a lucky sperm club member and I hate you a little bit.

In general I wouldn't put Syracuse on the same level as Duke, but in the industry they're in Syracuse might be more prestigious.

Syracuse is like Carnegie Mellon -- a University of Chicago 'AAA' affiliate.

This guy is the most obvious candidate to be "it's not even that--"ed by Bernstein every single time they do transition.

Just heard a Big Voice Guy promo hyping the new lineup on Monday: "Matt Spiegel and CHICAGO GUY Danny Parkins 9 to 1!"

I can say that I know program directors can be a little paranoid about new talent being viewed as interlopers by the listening audience, but damn.
