Parkins is prepared. Ripping off Bears stats like no tomorrow in terms of turnovers. And Spiegs basically ribbing him for his strong show preparation and desire to improve Chicago Sports Radio. What a pleasant contrast.

Spiegel keeps mentioning how Parkins is currently living with his parents.

Parkins should ask him where he lived after each of his divorces.

Parkins explained that early in the show. He just flew in. Big deal.

I like this Parkins guy. I am sticking with this from now on, and I am even going to give Goff/Bernsie a listen. I am convinced Spiegel has some kind of confidence issue because of all these backhanded comments. He did it to Goff and now Parkins. Danny is going to run circles around him with knowledge.

Parkins is obviously quite nervous. He looks like a little kid. But I think this pairing will work, and if it doesn't Spiegs will be shown the door. Spiegs seems quite challenged by the kid...

Not sure if it's been mentioned anywhere else but Parkins is more of a baseball guy, based on listening to some of his old shows this weekend.

City, that's awesome if he's a baseball guy. Right in my wheelhouse and a difficult sport to "fake". The season is long and there's lots of games. It takes real passion to bring it everyday for baseball.

And there will be so much to talk about this upcoming season with the Cubs defending and the radical shift in Sox strategy.

Parkins mentioned he watched the Bears games, which I assume he did so from a fan's perspective.

The guy seems solid. I don't think its fair to call him a Bernstein clone, except for the fact that he is articulate and can speak well/quickly extemporaneously. But those are the good qualities of Bernstein that I want to hear in a radio guy. He won't be a Bernstein clone until he starts showing universal disdain for any callers who disagree with him and goes way overboard on the SJW topics du jour.

All shows have to occasionally touch on the personal lives / humor of their hosts. But Spiegel/Goff took that part of the show too far and into weird corners. Hopefully this guy can reign Spiegs in a bit, although I'm concerned that Spiegs has already tried to drag him into creepy/weird places.

The red flags so far: story about being conceived during Super Bowl XX halftime (creepy); Spiegs says he likes that Parkins has grand visions of where Chicago sports talk radio should go. Also, some alarming usage of the word "evolved" today.

Lurk less, post more. Solid thoughts there.
