1/23: Spiegel acting much different today, much more engaged and friendly with his partner. I wonder if someone had a talk with him.

I didn't feel like starting a new thread, the show is almost over and no one else did, doesn't feel like a 'daily thread' show.

"That guy has got to get laid" is a clichéd phrase for someone to calm down but it really is true. It changes a mood entirely.

Doug, you're being irrational.

You've certainly got his number.

I'm trying to get to the root of his negativity.

That is a factor that I had not considered.

You can have that kind of "lifestyle" and make it work. It seemed like things didn't work for him because he was a selfish asshole. Getting shitfaced after your family goes to sleep at the kiddie water park and requiring medical attention because of your drunkeness really says it all.

After already being on a vacation with them where he was so trashed the resort had to drive him in a golf cart from the bar to his room.

I was a bit busy today so even though it was on in the background I couldn't devote too much of my brain to the show today, but when I hopped into the car for lunch, I heard some sparring/joking back and forth about Parkins being forced upon Spiegel and that Spiegel "didn't get who he wanted". Was that some kind of joke? The type where they take some outsiders gossip and make a running joke of it? Or was it more of this odd, passive-aggressive thing that Spiegel seems to have with his new partner?

Maybe she'll be lucky number 3?

That's the thing, you can't really tell, anymore, what is part of Spiegel's humor and what is Spiegel being passive-aggressive. Hell, he could be doing both, at times.

I would find it hard to believe that he's exactly happy about, through no overt fault of his own, being forced to break in 3 co-hosts in 4 years.

I think his band is pretty popular in a niche sort of way. He pulls tail from his work on stage. He's a poor man's John Popper.

There is something to commanding a room. I once gave a best man's speech that garnered a standing ovation - humblebrag.

Even though I gave the speech on stage standing next to my wife, young women were still approaching me all night. It was quite intoxicating. And I was quite intoxicated. Good times.
