Tuned in about 11:20 to hear Speigel saying how he and Jason "developed" this thing where they didn't talk to each other until the microphones went on.

I think that's just called laziness and lack of preparation.

I think a lot of radio guys do that. Steve and Garry were famous for it . They didn't want to waste any good bits or possible funny stuff off air and wanted it to be spontaneous when they cracked the mics.

I don't know about that. When so much of a show is supposed to be spontaneous--or at least, feel spontaneous--talking to a co-host a lot about a topic beforehand can result in what you say when the mics are hot sounding rehearsed, or too much "well we talked about it off-air..."

I got a kick out of Parkins preparation for the Gibson interview.

You can't say the guy isn't working.

I agree about not talking too much before the mics go on.

Of course , so little of what those putzes did was any fucking good regardless so it's not like they would've ruined much by doing it.

Your next podcast should be you inviting in a complete stranger into your basement to talk sports.

No, I'm just agreeing with the lazy thing.

This Speigel doorman story is pretty special.

I'm an expert on a lot of things I haven't done 10 times.

I understand what you guys are saying, and that worked for Steve and Garry (or other people who are interesting, compelling, and entertaining in some way) in their heyday because they were entertaining and funny.

When he's not intentionally being a prick I think Bernstein can also do that.

IMO Speigel and Goff don't have the natural ability to do that.

Just this quickly, I am souring on this guy. Little to nothing seems real, interesting or likable. And although I used to be a fan, Spiegel's juvenile games are irritating.

Finding quality broadcasters isn't THAT hard. Dr. Ken & his boy-quarium proves that every Tues. morning @4am or thereabouts.

I think I like Parkins.

Hilarious that Spiegel thought about having his doorman fired for hitting on his girlfriend.

Dolphin mentioned this in the Mac podcast thread but it really is irrelevant how much or how little Spiegel works or prepares. It won't really help. It would be like me training day and night to become a NFL player

I heard that.. Why would you do that unless he was being belligerent about it,

With someone as insecure as Spiegel you also have to wonder what his definition of hit on is. The doorman probably smiled at her or something.

The doorman probably knew it is just a waiting game before she is single.

It is sad. And Parkins seems to be like, "put a ring on it".

Parkins is fresh so he's not as annoying as the other drooling simians on WSCR. Give it some time. The guy is about as bland as it comes. Nothing insightful. The best thing going for him is that he hates Spiegel.

Probably... he reads the Wall Street page... he's not an uneducated doorman.

It is kind of sad. Parkins has the right attitude. The ol' "too bad, guy, she's with me".

Would you rather have a girlfriend/wife that nobody ever hits on?

Yeah, Parkins is just vanilla, but I can deal with that. He seems to love sports and is engaged in current events. The best part of this current combination is watching the eventual break-up. I suspect it will be nasty and obvious as Parkins will not back down.

I know a couple of guys who just loved Goff and Spiegel. Thought they sounded like they were having a good time and laughing. They both can't stand the new show. I'm trying to decide if this means I should like this show more or if it means it is so bad that even these two hate it.

Parkins's take was solid. "It's great that people think I out kicked my coverage.". By design, the only women that do not out kick Matty's coverage are JDC and the stars of my 600 Pound Life.

As I said a post earlier, Parkins standing up to Spiegel is fun.

What makes you think he wasn't reading the Wall Street page? Oh, I know, because he's the uneducated doorman.
