Colin Kaepernick talk combined with Spiegel sighing and moaning about Donald Trump.

I'm not at all interested in the upcoming NFL draft, the Blackhawks gearing up for the playoffs, or even what the Cubs and White Sox are up to in Spring Training, so this is awesome.

Voice of the fan!

Almost makes you long for more lighthearted stories about Spiegel getting drunk on vacation, falling down, injuring his shoulder, passing out in a hallway, and being taken to the hospital by his wife and kid the next day.

And now here's a commercial for the Illinois Media School which is not at all stilted and awkward!

Yeah I made a comment in the Parkins thread. I love when Spiegs gets on his political soap box. He's such a model human being.

The NFL hates black quarterbacks! It's why Jay Cutler is still unemployed.

Aren't they sick of playing the black/jew card? It's used up.

Politics is infecting everything. I can't blame an owner for not wanting to hire Kaepernick just to avoid the distraction of getting caught up in a no-win political situation.

Kaepernick is a shitty quarterback. It's really that simple. If he could play like Aaron Rodgers he could don a Bears jersey, kneel on an American flag on the 50 yard line while pissing on it, and I would still cheer my ass off for him.

Also apparently Spiegel's kid purposefully runs into other kids at school. So much so that he's not allowed in quiet areas.

Maybe Ruben is the one bullying poor little Amabella in Big Little Lies. Is it ok that I am getting into Shailene Woodley? She popped up in that Snowden movie as his girlfriend.

I dig her voice, very raspy. They purposely make her look ragged in the mini series (single poor mom), but then there are scenes where she is dressed up.

Kaepernick cannot play in any system that requires a pocket passer so he is eliminated from the discussion from a good chunk of teams. He is a guy who you would have to design a special offense for but he isn't worth that effort.

Michael Vick got a second chance...if you can play, they don't care about skin color.

The conversation had nothing to do with race.

Parkins point was that John Elway, on Broncos letterhead, released a statement endorsing Trump's new Supreme Court Justice pick and why is that any different than what Kapernick did. Why was there outrage over one but not the other.

If Elway had instructed the whole Broncos team to kneel during the anthem until Gorsuch was confirmed, then I'd say there was a valid comparison.

Because 95% of people who say "athletes/celebs should stay out of politics" are full of shit and will love it when someone who agrees with their leanings does it.

Pretty much but Kap knew ahead of time that taking the unpopular political position has potential costs. He still did it and he didn't back down. I still think its mainly because people do not think he plays well enough to put up with him. If he was standing up for some popular point of course someone rolls the dice.

As for Elway, I know nothing about it but I guess it has to do more with the judge being from Colorado than some specific issue.

They both were making a political statement.

Then again, Kapernick is not good enough for any team to take on the headache.

Endorsements are not offensive; people found Kaepernick not standing for the anthem offensive. Didn't upset me when LeBron endorsed Hillary for president.

By the way Cutler still doesn't have a job and last time I looked he is white.

I don't really care if a team signs Kaep or not, but it's just plain untrue to suggest he's bad at football.
