Parkins seems to be pulling a lot more hi-profile guests than the previous mid-day show, and even the afternoon show.

Is this his book? Did he bring a superstar producer along with him?

Compared to Dicaro on the weekends and night gigs, it is not even close.

This has been ignored in the "Tranny Drama" thread, but it seems the perceived poaching of guests is an issue between these guys.

That might be a good thing.

He comes off as a know-it-all, and that is annoying. But, so far he is the best. He seems to be interested in sports, and not a social justice warrior agenda.

Something has to give here.

1. Parkins leaves because he is above this, and a better host
2. Regime change, and some of these other guys including Mitch leaves

I think the most likely option is those who are fighting the good fight with the "outsider" get a wakeup call when the next job opens up and an outside guy gets it too. Parkins was a clear sign to everyone at the station that change is coming. It's going to be pretty easy to get talent to come to a place like Chicago and if the current guys won't play nice then someone else will come in. Bernstein seemed to get it from day one. Goff doesn't care because he's got his show. Everyone else, including Spiegel, seem to think they can somehow win a battle with Parkins.

They didn't bring in Parkins to then say "Oh, the producers don't want to do guest shifts with him. Let's fire him and give them the job!"

Parkins has taken on all comers, and he doesn't seem bitchy about it. The guy loves sports and is generally likable. It's good for the station to have fresh blood. I mean it's that or:

1. "She's gonna get it."
2. "McGowaaannnnnn"

That being said, I'd be pissed if I were Larry. He has been a good foot solider for Mitch. And Parkins doesn't seem to have a problem with spiking the football.

I agree. They've lost and they don't realize it yet. And Parkins' professionalism is making them look bad.

Totally agree. Parkins comes out looking the best is this situation. Fucking Lerry came off as a petulant child.

It is possible that Mitch can't confront the stale old status quote because he is too close, buddies. He brought in an outsider to ruffle the best and help them see the future is not Bernstein and clones.

If this is the case, why did Julie and Leery get contract extensions or more air time?

This all seems analogous to the Hood-Telander situation a decade or so ago. Mitch still hold it against Hood. I wonder is he will do the same to Sir.

Hood tried to sabotage the show in ongoing fashion. Sir just acted like a douche for a few minutes. So I doubt it. Plus Mitch was Sir's agent. He didn't have that connection with Hood.

I know Parkins isn't the only New Trier grad who was at his old station in KC. One of his former colleagues there, who was a New Trier alum was brought in for a tour of 670. You can bet Parkins is pitching him to Mitch and he'll be the next outsider to come in and breathe life into the station.

New Score Tagline: Voice of the (entitled, silver spoon) fan(and Jason Goff).

Just a note, this New Trier alum in KC was also an IU grad.

If you fuck up at Yale the CIA is the "job of last resort". If you fuck up at New Trier it's working at The Score.

Chet and I are both New Trier alumni, albeit about 15 years apart. We're going to do 10-midnight weeknights live from the East Bank Club.

I believe he was a year or two ahead of me. But we had something like 4000 students after the merger, so I don't think I ever even saw the guy.
