Glad they got a football specialty show set up for Mac in time for 50% of Week 18.

I’m far from a Danny Mac fan but he’s better at radio than 90% of the Score lineup and he sounds great . While he hasn’t always acted like it this is what someone who knows what they’re doing sounds like on the air.

Yeah, ten minutes in and this is nice comfortable radio. And I'm not even an NFL fan.

So was there any promotion of this? Is this a one-shot deal?

It does sound good so far.

When did this come about? I don't recall hearing anything about it on the station and there certainly would have been a post of the board about it if it had been mentioned.

Throw these guys on the afternoon shift and I would listen.

Yes.

Like Tad said, completely out of the blue. These two sound good.

Maybe with Jimmy DeCastro running the show there’s a pathway for Mac to return now. CH ?

It's weird.

Mitch: Mac, you can come back on for a show but don't tell anyone about it. That's exactly what they'd expect us to do.

Imagine that, two guys on WSCR who sound like they not only watch sports but enjoy doing so.

I know Mac has a tendency to sound rejuvenated and full of vim and vigor when he returns to the air after time off before gradually sounding more and more disenchanted with the whole thing, but I'll take this while it lasts.

This is probably making Spiegel all sorts of uncomfortable as Parkins and Mac don't seem to need many "flight miles" before sounding good together.

I alluded to this or at least hoped when Decastro was announced.

this is by far the best pairing of any show in the city right now. These two would rule afternoons or any shift if they were there permanently. The score hasn't sounded this good in many many years.

Absolutely.

Mac and Parkins on his podcast a couple weeks back was a great listen as well. I don't think it is an overstatement to say the Score needs McNeil. He would be a great pushback to the SJW radio that has become the afternoon show. Some combination of Bernstein, Parkins, Spiegel, and McNeil needs to be the midday and afternoon show. Goff and Holmes from 6-10.

Goff and Holmes from 6-10.

Somehow, Holmes made Goff more palatable Friday. Maybe that pairing would work.

Because for all his faults, LoHo runs a professional radio show.

This is correct, the amount of overproduction in his 35 minute shows when the Cubs were on at night was a contrast to B & B and now B & G just "showing up" and plugging in.

Yes, because Murph taught him well.

Not mine. I’m still pissed at Mac so I’m not rolling out of bed to turn off Beatles Sunday for a one time Football show.

I agree but they'll be someone along soon to call us racist.

For the record, I don't mind Holmes too much but I never listen to talk radio at night so I rarely hear him.

It was a solid show. Parkins asked McNeil if he missed Spiegel, and McNeil alluded answering by saying he was on a fantasy league with Spiegel. :D

Would listen again.
