I can see how it's all about the money with Bernstein but aren't they all on contracts? It's not like they're getting paid by the hour.

contract defines the number of hours worked each day/week and the shift those hours will be worked

It's not about ratings, money or anything else of a professional variety. It's personal. Bernstein resents that Mac took over the afternoon shift, while Bernstein was relegated to the earlier, less crucial one. He is a petty, spiteful bitch.
