He’s becoming an increasingly tough listen. It’s really too bad.

His latest tendency is when an interesting topic comes up is to ask for more time to think about it. To “digest it” or “wrap his mind around it.”

Ya know what would be even better, Mac, if you were to like...oh I don’t know...work thru your vAriois thoughts ON THE AIR during the radio show that bears your name. Use the 4 hours you so often reference as being interminably long and talk to your co-host about what you’re thinking...

Poor Mac. No football. No gambling. And it appears now his brain has melted

Tough to take at face value from a former disgruntled employee/producer.

What precisely does “face value” mean in this context, Robert?

We get it...you were laid off, you're pissed, you have an ax to grind.

Are you really this stupid? I’m leaning heavily towards an affirmative but I’d like to think not

We know you are Rick Camp. But if you want, mail proof to Joe Orr to prove otherwise. It would be like a "Reverse Hawk".

Mac cut off by dropped wifi is better than Speigel and Parkins.

Mac, I know you’re out there. Reading this. And surely thinking of a response in which you regularly turn phrases so as to avoid ending your sentences with a preposition, but know this thread comes from a good place.

Adult Danny can’t carry you much farther. I mean further. You have to improve, Mac. For da station, da station.

Speigel doing spring Cubs play-by-play was officially the gayest doing the gig of all time.

Mac not driving the show hinders him. The shows when Parkins was out before his child's birth were among his best in recent memory. Parkins dominates the show and I think Mac is bored with his role. But, this was his choice, maybe his only option to get back in the saddle and make a nice paycheck. YMMV. I've been fairly critical of Mac over the years. But, I don't think he's in a sweet spot for him at this point. He'd be much better off doing a show similar to Holmes where he has 2 hours and a producer to act as a foil when needed.

He’d be good with a rotating cast of some kind. Mac gets bored very easily. Rotate Grote, Joe O, Hub and the like and have Terry call in once a week and he’d be much better off.

And yes, the 2 hour LoHo format would be more conducive as well.

There has not been a meaningful professional sports game played in this country in over a month. What would you like Mac to talk about, with a crisp fastball, at this point?

A whole $100 huh? Real high rollers

But if someone would actually like to lose it, I’ll gladly take it.

They were talking about the NFL today—free agency and draft. Macs wheelhouse. But his brain was foggy. Or more likely he just doesn’t care anymore.

I didn't ask what they talked about today, I asked what you would like him to talk about.

After all, I don’t create this thread critiquing Mac’s choice of subject matter. So your question is rather irrelevant

I don’t think anyone is really up to speed these days. It’s got to be particularly hard to get enthused when your job is to talk every day about nonexistent sports. Even more so when you’re stuck in the basement with no end in sight.

I am a huge Mac fan, and Franks point is pretty valid, but there was a point today where he completely lost track of his thoughts and was like "I have no idea what I was going to say." It was really strange. I hope everything is ok with him.

Wanna be? What are you in 5th grade?

You started a thread. I asked a question. A perfectly valid question about what you would like to hear Mac talk about. You haven't answered it. You would do well not to reply at all rather than post a bunch of crap that has nothing to do with the question at hand, crickcrest

Agreed, Mac and Bernstein sound off, but they have kids to support (Mac a handicapped kid who is likely facing limited therapy availability) and wives who's careers have likely also been impacted, so there is tons of outside pressure on everyone because they do not know what the future holds. Times of crisis also can cause addicts to fall back into bad habits.
