That is an odd statement by Mac.

I don't find anything interesting, funny, or entertaining about Parkins, and Mac's increasingly frequent gigglespeak has made his contributions a tough listen for me. When did he start doing that? A man who was once mad at Jeff Blanzy for smiling too much during his sportscasts now has a near-permanent case of the giggles during his show.

It is an odd statement. What is more important than sports? Family of course. But after that? Work, no way. All of us spend a large portion of our leisure time consuming sports. It is a fantastic spectacle about all the stuff that makes us human- physical characteristics, drive for success, passion, the feeling of belonging to a fan base.

Sports are a huge part of my life. It is my connection to you guys and this board. I won’t apologize for that.

Wasn't McNieil pretty much an absentee father the first part of his life? Now he's giving lectures on priorities?

Not sure on that. Don’t know the histories of these guys like some folks here do but my impression was always that absentee father is the one label you can’t pin on Mac.

Is anyone at 670 pro- go about your life , lift the stupid lockdown? Or is it akin to they all happen to be left-leaning, no Trump supporters to be found ? Or if they are, dont want to be known they are.

If I had to guess I would say Tanny is probably pretty pro-opening up, but he’s not an on air host and isnt outspoken about politics. Seems like the rest of the station is pretty decidedly pro-stay locked down indefinitely.

It's been more pronounced since they started working from home.

Just sharing how I feel today. I think they are going to start sports back up and shut them down. This is based on talking to someone intimately familiar with baseballs plan and Dr Citronberg who has been on the show many times. I hope I’m wrong. It doesn’t mean I don’t want sports back.

I’ll continue to mostly try to distract and do nonsense like the pizza stuff or callers or score stories like you referenced but I’m not going to pretend I don’t feel a certain way. The Ohio state AD and the ESPN story on all the hurdles to return for sports had me feel that way at 2:00.

Also, not a hedge fund baby. No trust fund. My parents were stock brokers. Mom still working, dad retired in his 70’s. Made a lot of money, lost a lot of money. Very privileged upbringing though, no denying that. And Im grateful for my parents instilling that work ethic in me and making me have a job since I was 14. Thanks for all your concern.

Stay safe and thanks for listening.

Thanks for checking in Parkins.

Would it hurt you guys to have any other medical perspective than just your Doctor Citronberg? There are other medical and scientific opinions that differ and you guys completely ignore that.

And as much as you hate guys like Clay Travis. They have been right on a lot of things so far.

I’m not particularly sure why Mac is as strong about the virus stuff as he is but I get Parkins. It was explained today of nothing else he has a immune deficient newborn at home. Not dissimilar to Frank.

Any each their own but today with Podsednik and the Eagles talk was gold man just gold.

The Score was more enjoyable when you had hot dog vendors and bleacher bums as hosts and Doug Buffone throwing Bernstein out of a 3 story window. Myyyy guyyyy!

I always thought sports talkers should be outsiders, to a degree. It's grating to hear hosts pushing any status quo--conservative, liberal, whatever. That's all I hear when you get political.

Why even talk? You're not thinking. You're just spouting pre-fabricated thought. Have some nuance, independence, something. If I already know what you're gonna say when you get political, then why am I listening? I'd rather listen to Waddle say, "Uh . . . Well, in Cincinnati . . . um . . . Yeah, I just don't know."

Mac is pulling a Terry. He disagrees, but won't rock the boat.

Plus, OSU is not "greedy." They gotta pay the bills, too, and there's the tradition thing. Of course, if you want to rip on OSU, I won't get in the way.

Mac has some hard miles on him. I get his caution

Still don’t think that means he has the right to judge others for not wanting to completely self quarantine at this point of time.

I don't know a good place to put this so I'll just stick it here.

Jim Rose's sports report was about a shirtless Eddy Pineiro drilling 50-yard FGs in the Florida sun and the first (incredibly slow developing) 5-4-3 triple play in the Korean League this season.

Thank God NASCAR is on now.

Was there a Hee-Seop Choi sighting? Because I can see bum grounding into a low developing triple play. Especially since he’s close to my age.

From the look of it, it was like that scene in the ‘85 Bears Highlight VCR tape where they shoot the Fridge waddling out of the tunnel from behind, shooting from the ass upward with the dopey waddling music.

No problem if you want to stay away from crowds because of a fear of getting the virus and passing on to your family, but others would like to reclaim that part of their life while taking precautions. Staggered arrival times, distance between seating, and avoiding capacity in a sports venue can work. Seating 20-30k Ohio St. fans in a 105k seat stadium is an effective way of social distancing. We can get back to a semblance of our previous by adhering to these guidelines.

Why not watch old games 1-2 days a week and talk about them the next day? For example, watch G7 of the 1992 Eastern Semis against the Knicks and take calls from fans the next day.

This is of course the right response to this and I’m losing patience with those who pretend any other answer is the correct one right now.

This is a good post. By all means tell the listener how you feel about things, but the way you do it comes off as condescending at times.

Assuming there are 10 million asymptomatic people in the United States with COVID-19. I think that number is high, but whatever, the odds of someone being in attendance at this game is less than 1%. Then assuming you practice reasonable distancing, washing your hands after you shit, the numbers go down that you will catch it from said person...It truly is absurd.
