I like Anthony Herron but his chemistry with Danny is zero. Spiegel and Parkins is the ticket

Wow that's pretty unfair. There was not an ounce of prejudice in that ,I was just expressing an opinion.

I like Herron, but he is boring.

This station is dead.

I just can't listen to any Score anymore. Thought once Bears season started. To be fair have not listened to ESPN 1000 either.

Small poll, but I asked a few people I work with who are sport junkies in 40s/50s, most listen to podcast, more national sports for sports radio.

I think once things start getting back to "normal," which feels like forever I will turn the Score on, but probably ESPN 1000 first. I like J Hood and Silvy.

The score just offers nothing right now. Who tunes into the morning to hear Mulley(boring) and Haugh(even more boring). Bernstein(who cares anymore), Parkins and whoever(Parkins wet blanket just turned me off) and that it, oh wait Les.

Heron seems like a nice guy, but kinda bland, think he is better on TV.

I endorse all this, except the Silvy part. He’s a competent host and a great guy. Happy he’s in remission but I can’t listen to his odd pronunciations of words. I’ve tried to get past it but it’s so grating.

Parkins and Spiegel has to be the pairing because their chemistry is so good but even then...meh.

Parkins has really gone downhill since he started.

The irony when the station talks Cubs roster moves is they say the team needs to be blown up, completely retooled, etc. which is true. But that is precisely what the station needs as well. Pick one or two hosts to hold onto but everyone else should be DFAd

And for Herron: nice guy, smart guy. But snooze fest.

Herron seems like a good color guy for football games, but he's not a radio host.

Agree with both above. Herron is a color analyst, good looking guy for TV, very good at breaking things down. Perfect for TV.

Radio, he is jut bland.

Also agreed on Parkins. I was his biggest fan, but he has gone downhill real fast. Even before the COVID and working from home, the overdone gambling sessions with Mac got boring.

I agree him and Spiegs are the best pair, but that is not saying much. Will get old and get old fast.

In regards to Silvy, maybe I like his twitter more than him sometimes. You can tell he loves sports and not faking it. I mean, remember we are listening to a sports station.

Seems like WSCR has forgotten that the last 5 years or so.

Herron is a nice contrast from most of the rest of the station, he comes across as a genuinely good guy who enjoys life and isn't looking for hourly hot takes.

Agreed. The corporate neutering of the station has eviscerated its identity. There is nothing unique or distinctive about the Score, and thus there is no reason for me to listen to it (except for the few minutes each morning I want to catch up on Chicago sports headlines.).

How does it compare with sports radio in Massachusetts (WEEI?)

EEI is a walking ghost, they might be in even worse shape than the Score.

Who will be the first ex Score guy to openly discuss the stations demise tied into it's carrying the Cubs? Basic sports opinion banned for corporate ordered rah rah bs. Personalities all gone replaced with Parkinsesqe generic sleeping pills. Lela and Ant, come on. When Mac's media career is officially toast he'd be the guy for a tell all book. Behind the scenes. Who fought the Theo & Joe are gods, all is great, when the ship is sinking, Cub's boot licking? Who was Les jr. I'll take another please?

and he's a guy who obviously loves sports

Parkins tried talking to him about his tv watching preferences and couldn't believe Herron didn't subscribe every one show platform

I want to like Parkins, but it seems that at every turn he reminds the listener that he is a silver spoon recipient hellbent on enjoying sports primarily because of the gambling.

Same with me. I don't dislike Parkins, he can show moments of being interesting but that seems to bury it.
I just don't see the Herron and Parkins having any kind of chemistry. People complained that Parkins and Mac were awkward....good Lord, this will be worse. Herron would make for a good co-host....just not with Parkins.

Parkins has not aged well in Chicago. He has a great radio voice and came out talking sports, being modest(new), having fun etc.

Then he turned into a total wet blanket, I am always right, smug, "this is why we can't have good things," saying kinda guy.

We know his politics, a 30 year old stoner is gonna be a far left dude.

Parkins reminds be of a guy who preaches to everyone on how to be a better person, right side of history, I am so smart, but takes 3 months to pay you back 20 bucks after 10 reminders.

I don’t think Parkins forgets his debts at all haha.

You got a bit carried away with your profiling I think

I think you could pair him with Laurence, put Spiegel with Parkins and lose Bernstein altogether for a nice start.

Somewhat socially liberal but likes to think that he's fiscally responsible. Middle of the road, but no use for the trumps and the most fervent of their supporters.

Reasonable.

I didn’t mean just provide a generic definition of your obscure term. I can google.

What has Parkins said or not said that makes you believe he’s anything but a liberal. What traditional or contemporary rebulican values do you feel he aligns himself with? Cuz I don’t see it
