So I bounce back & forth between both stations via Twitch (mainly ESPN 1000) and I flipped to 670 and Spiegs & Parkins had Wiederer on & you can tell there was friction between Parkins & Wiederer. At some point Parkins literally said “you condescending piece of crap.” I was kind of stunned. Spiegs took over t he interview for a bit. At some point Parkins tried to ask a question and Wiederer said something about Parkins being “butt hurt” lol to which Parkins said something like “don’t say that.” I caught it around 4:10 so the interview must have started at 4:00. And I thought Wiederer & Kap would go at it but there was never anything I heard between them that compared to this.

Danny Parkins was correct. Wiederer brings attitude to every show he's on and I find him unpleasant listen and generally change the channel when he comes on. Kudos to Danny for calling him out. He was correct.

I haven't listened to the exchange yet, but I agree that Wiederer assumes a condescending air that isn't justified by his understanding of the game. He's a pretty good reporter--not necessarily a great one--but his analysis is pedestrian and inconsistent. He tries to be the fly in the ointment but simply ends up looking foolish to anyone who's paying attention.

Wiederer was right. Parkins has a view, and he believes everyone else should share it. Wiederer is essentially telling Parkins that his opposing views can also be rational. That idea makes Parkins head explode.

Parkins does take aim and not relent. It would be nice if he could appreciate Fields greatness. The also desire he start being able to pass at some point.

I think both sides are right in this deal. Parkins gets butt hurt very easily just like he did with Bernsie awhile back during transition, but Wiederer does come off condescending a lot of the time.

Team beat reporters aren't usually pro tank as not to lose credibility with their teams. Parkins is fully aware of this. This controversy with Wiederer seems scripted on Parkins part for manufactured fake content. The "offended rich guy. I'm right! I'm right: Damn it!" bit is wearing thin and losing steam and stinks of desperation each time it's repeatedly overused with guests.

Did you actually listen to the whole segment? Near its end, Parkins agrees with Wiederer's point that the season is important from a player development perspective, but Wiederer continued to imply that he is narrow-minded because Parkins doesn't also place any value on winning. Wiederer was thus guilty of engaging in the dogmatic, inflexible thinking that he attributed solely to Parkins.

Wiederer is a complete douche and hasn't broken any stories of significance since the middle of last season. So much for the Trib's vaunted "enterprise reporter".

I was driving back from Wisconsin and heard the whole thing. It sound like a junior high school argument. Neither one would give in. Spiegel tried to placate both of them. Danny disengaged for a bit (presumably to calm down). When he returned they talked about other stuff for a while but then they started up again. It was bizarre.

I listened to Dan Wiederer Bears talk visits at ESPN 1000 before he switched to the Score. He was there very non-confrontational, happy-go-lucky and could take being joked with. Parkins has a history trying to demean and trap his guests recently with Hub, Boomer Esiason and going back Jack McDowell and Jim Miller. Parkins arrogant debating style with his lack of sport knowledge built up with Wiederer and he had enough and (hats off to him) went on the offensive.
