I'm surprised no one has mentioned Danny's announcement that he's stepping away for some personal time with no timetable on a return. He recently lost his dad and his brother is now in hospice care. Bless the Parkins family and godspeed, Danny.

His family has definitely had a rough go of it. Sad to hear.

Where did he make this announcement?

Damn that sucks for anyone to deal with. Parkins seems like a decent human being.

Who fills in? Do they make a call to McNeil? Ratings are in the tank

Frank is correct…You truly are a dumbass.
In Chicago, Jeff Agrest reported in the Nielsen fall ratings book for the “key demographic” of men ages 25-54, WSCR-AM’s ‘‘Bernstein & Holmes’’ -- with recurring co-host Leila Rahimi -- “remained the most-listened-to sports talk show in the market, earning a 5.6 rating.” Among all area stations in the 10am-2pm CT time slot, it “held” its No. 2 rank from the summer book. From 2-6pm, ESPN Radio 1000’s "Waddle & Silvy" earned a 4.8 and "inched ahead” of WSCR’s "Parkins & Spiegel" at 4.7, ranking third and fourth, respectively. The shows were tied in the summer book at 4.1. Both stations landed “firmly in the top five in the market during prime listening”

Feder once said that Nielsen no longer allowed the publishing of ratings demographics. That's why all we can get is the general audience. How did this guy skirt the rules?

I'm not surprised the sports stations do well in the key demographic. But "well" is relative. People don't listen to the radio anymore, I don't unless I'm in the car, and I'm not the key demographic. So being #4 now is nothing like being #4 twenty years ago. And that's not to say 670 doesn't make money. I'm sure they make plenty.

That data is over 6 months old

Recent Nielsen ratings had the station 21st in Chicago, behind WBBM and Christian Education Radio.

That isn't particularly good. And stop following me around thread to thread like that retarded lapdog Frank.

That's non-demographic. Stations only care about 25-54

Key Demographic, means P&S is the second favorite afternoon sports radio station in Chicago behind W&S. Jeez what fucking accomplishment! Anyways, a call to McNeil could be fun, hopefully he's learned his lesson after getting his woke hand bit.

Stop following you around?? How about you stop posting stupid thoughts. Wait, I’m not asking for you to be banned but I guess that would be the same result.

The issue that Feder had was that he would have had to pay to publish the key demo’s. The dumbed-downed ones aimed at Caller Bob and Vito are free for them to misinterpret.

Murph is 100 percent retired. He won't be doing cameo's or fill in spots. He's enjoying his life right now.

Hey dumb fuck, the only misinterpreting is by you...posting 6+ month old references. And finishing 2nd to Waddle and Silvy(who also, nobody really listens to) isn't an accomplishment. Sports talk radio, like the Rodger-less Packers, is dead.

Sports talk radio is so dead, that nobody realized Parkins was stepping away(outside of 1 person) because he only announced it only the radio.

I must have missed when his dad passed. I knew his brother was in health troubles and likely going soon. Its terrible luck and I empathize with Danny.

I've had the AM set to 670 for Cubs games while driving around when not streaming Pandora. So for the rest of the week (when there isn't a Cubs game), Bernstein in with Speigs, and Rahimi in with Lawrence for the Mid-Day.

Turned it on during a W&S commercial break. Show sounded better with Bernstein/Speigs then Parkins/Speigs. Move Parkins to afternoons with Lawrence or Rahimi. Can't stand Parkins/Speigs together.

Cancer for his brother and Alzheimer's for his dad. That's just awful.

People seem to mostly despise Parkins here, but he seems like a good guy to me. I like his show.

I think the same people repeatedly post their disdain for pretty much all of the current local hosts. I'm a Parkins fan and think he and Speigel (along with the producers) have built a solid chemistry and put on a consistently fun show.

And the ratings say otherwise.
