I was watching Chicago Tribune Live and Spiegel seems to be a little out of shape. All the guys on the show were wearing suits, so it was a little hard to notice specifically, especially since Spiegel was sitting with Brad Biggs.

Spiegel claims he weighs about "5 spins"; which makes his incessant macking on Gappy such good comedy.

Why do people insist on bringing up weight issues? :ncool:

Spiegs has lost weight over the years. Why do people in our society focus so much on weight? :x :x :x

I dont think Spiegs currently weighs 5 spins. I believe he has stated that he at one time weighed that much.

I think the fundamental question is "why do people in our (US and A) society weigh so fucking much?" 5 spins = freakishly obese. Used to be that the only time you saw people that size was in a tent, after paying a nickel. Now they walk around our city streets wearing tents and stuffing their pie-holes with big macs.

And trying to wedge themselves into the seats next to us on Southwest Airlines:

I agree that people that are morbidly obese should take a look in the mirror and do something about it, but the constant focus on being an exact weight or if they've got a little spare tire....c'mon.

Oh, I agree: if you're not spilling over into the seat next to you in coach class (which is all SW has) it's nobody's biz but yer own--but only for guys. We as a society must continue to make women feel less self-worth for every extra ounce they carry vs yer typical victoria's secret /SI swimsuit issue model.

Spiegel and Kevin Smith next to eachother on an airplane. Would 3 seats be enough?

No one breathes heavier into the phone than Brad Biggs. He always sounds like he just got done running a marathon when in fact it was probably just a jaunt from couch to kitchen and back.

And yes, this coming from someone working on his own weight loss program.

Well, obesity is probably the worse health problem besides smoking and excessive drinking. Women have a weight complex issue because of the skinny models and people on TV who are airbrushed. Most of the actresses in Hollywood are really small little people. The mistake of the society is to place more worth on someone who is thinner. Fat people are one of the last allowable groups to discriminate against. I don't think everyone ought to be a skinny little person, but being overweight by more than 50 lbs. is a definite health risk, especially as you get older.

As far as Spiegel goes, I had never seen him in person before and so I was a little surprised. You can't tell someone's size from the suits and the cameras on that show. Hence the title of the thread.

You know who sounds like a total fat ass on the radio but isn't? Steve Rosenbloom. Seriously, the way he spits out words ending in "c" or "k" annoys the crap outta me. He has a little Eddie Schwartz in his voice, and believe me, for you youngsters at home, using "little" and "Eddie Schwartz" in the same sentence is oxymoronic. That dude was obese, may he RIP.

SHARK, any thoughts on Chicago Ed???
