NBC Sports? Really? You're right, it's like Dick Fickin' Ebersol and Bob Costas are on his case.

Wow. Point out the Ted Lilly has his share of drama and link to the story that discusses his one dust-up with John Gibbons, then manager of the Blue Jays. The same John Gibbons who challenged Shea Hillenbrand to a fight. Demoted and orchestrated a trade of a pitcher that complained about being taken out of a game. Benched Frank Thomas for starting slowly out of the box and then started a mini-public feud with him. That's a great example to pull regarding Ted Lilly.

I'm not even sure there is a logical thread through the article. Zambrano is a head case that lets his temper get to him on the mound and has shown a tendency to do things that harm his ball club. Not listening to trainers, not hydrating, not keeping his cool on the mound and being a general pain in the rear. That type of insanity has nothing to do with having a manager that appears to have given up on his job. The comment was that he was resigned to his fate as the manager of an underachieving team and publicly wasn't showing any drive/determination to resolve the issue.

You'd think Ebersol would personally check these articles before letting NBC Sports bitch slap Danny Mac.

i wouldn't invoke the name of dick ebersol, considering he backed leno and all. he and mac kinda seem like they might be cut from similar cloth. confused and irrelevant.

There is not even a slight implication toward's racism in that article. If you think differently, give the quote, so that you may be judged a fool by your board peers.

that is correct.

i don't think mac is racist. i just found it amusing that someone with no vested interest in the chicago sports radio scene (calcaterra, a great blogger by the way) would hammer on mac so relentlessly, based solely on his writing skills. had he known the of danny mac's storied radio career, i can only imagine how much worse the criticism would have been.

mac is a terrible writer, and once he started pretending to be a columnist, i punched the fucking button.

I'm not a fan of his writing but it does not have any affect on then enjoyability of his radio show.

He referred to it in his comments below the article GD.

Phil

...Ted Lilly... Lou Piniella...Carlos Zambrano.

One of these things is not like the other. One of these things is not the same.

I don't know McNeil's writing well enough to actually make an accusation, but yeah, that had occurred to me.

good lord what an ass.

zambrano is the supposed "ace" of the staff. and he's known for meltdowns when we're counting on him most.

this guy's a tool.

I'm still trying to find a: the bitch slap and b: the fact that Danny Mac is allegedly racist.

I didn't hear Mac refer to anything involving Zambrano's nationality. I heard him say when he thought the man would have a meltdown, period.

Until Zambrano proves he can go a season without beating up a catcher, a vending machine, or taunting the home crowd as they boo him off the mound; he's going to have this rep of melting down.

Mac's job is to comment on what he's seen; or base a comment on previous history. That's all that he did.

Give me back that filet o’ fish,
Give me that fish.

Give me back that filet o’ fish,
Give me that fish.

What if it were you
hanging up on this wall?

If it were you in that sandwich,
you wouldn’t be laughing at alllllll!
