NBC bosses insist that figure skating & ice dancing were bigger ratings draws than hockey, even though "The Peacock" is the U.S. home of the National Hockey League. If USA & Canada are competing for medals this weekend in men's hockey, bet the rent it'll be on NBC, complete with Mike "Doc" Emrick & Eddie Olczyk on the call, and in HD.

Even if the final is Czech vs Slovakia its still gonna be on NBC. Its already been determined that the gold medal game will be on NBC Sunday afternoon.

Shark, you're slipping a bit.

One other thing about msnbc....

My signal went dead because of snow/slush on my dish and/or in the sky.

msnbc's signal and all my 'higher stations' went to shit.
NBC5, and all the networks signals continued to remain functional.

Nice.

Their internet feed sucked too. It told you the score and who was getting penalties via a 'scoreboard' but it failed to tell you how much time was left in the game.

Happened at Balmoral Park as well.
Some really pissed off customers for about 15 minutes or so. I had a feeling that would happen and predicted it to our engineer there. Almost the entire crew of judges as well as track announcer Dominic Polito were getting upset too.

How many FAILS can NBC have in one year, I wonder?

Hockey fans need to gain some perspective.
Stop blaming NBC. Blame the NHL.
National games are played on Versus -- not ESPN or TNT. Hockey had its chance and blew it.

Truth, quoted for.

What does any of that have to do with the Olympics and NBC's coverage? Are you guys saying that because the NHL gets poor coverage that means the Olympic hockey should get second rate coverage?

Let me ask you, where can you find your weekly speedskating or snowcross game? ESPN? TNT? Plenty of olympic sports get poor coverage outside of the olympics yet they still managed to find their way onto the main stage.

In other words, really stupid arguement by you guys.

For speed skating and many other Olympic sports, this is their main stage. This is when viewers tune in, and NBC wants to take advantage of that.
Are you saying that the Olympics are the pinnacle for professional hockey?
You also complain about second-rate coverage. The game was still shown live.
If you're a fan of skiing events, NBC would rather spoon feed you taped coverage. That's second-rate coverage.
Quit your complaining. The gold medal hockey game will be on NBC.

Sorry that ice dancing is more popular than hockey in America.

would it kill them to just put "LIVE" underneath the logo once in a while?

MSNBC drew an 8.5 rating here in Chicago for the USA/Canada hockey game last night, while NBC Sports' primetime Olympic coverage drew a 14.6 rating locally. Two other NBC Universal-owned properties carrying the Vancouver Winter Olympics, CNBC & USA Network, are available in HD. Why didn't Chairman Dick Ebersol and "Peacock" bosses put the USA/Canada game on either of those channels instead? :? I understand that figure skating & ice dancing were supposedly higher ratings draws and that the USA/Canada hockey game was a preliminary, but I thought CNBC & USA Network were higher rated cable networks than MSNBC...Besides, USA carried the first 2 Team USA men's hockey games in HD...

They probably wanted to get MSNBC more viewers. They are trying to promote the other programs on the channel so that after the Olympics are over you will tune in to the network.
