So Jonathan Bank went out strong early but ended up sitting by the river waiting for his fate.

Last place.

They run clockwise in Germany. That's weird. Hard to watch.

Real question for the horse racing individuals out there - wouldn't a horse need to be trained differently to run clockwise as opposed to counter?

I don't recall seeing a major horse race run that way.

They run the opposite way in Europe. European trainers aren't obsessed with getting horses to switch leads like we are in America.

Are you watching Gulfstream? I think the 3, Stare If You Must has a better chance than his current odds.

On it, got $4 bucks on him.

To let everyone in, I'm in a quasi-isolation due to some family illnesses. I'm not this crazy generally but I am bored.

Shit, this is a claiming race. Am I going to own this horse if it wins?

Well, it didn't work out but I have to say hearing the PA guy say that the "Cuban Missile" is coming up hard on the rear was distracting.

Pimlico is up. I always wanted to say I bet a race at Pimlico.

I took She's A Tripp in honor of The Bandit. 4/1

I think 4/1 were the same odds that she would have married me.

How lucky can one guy be? Mike North gets me.

I always wanted to bet a race at the track Bing Crosby and Bob Hope owned in California. Del Mar.

I think it's closed down now, though. Bummer.

I'm a huge Crosby fan as long as no rumors of his domestic abuse are ever shown to be likely.

I think She's A Tripp lost by a diminishing short head.

But, wait, HOLD ALL TICKETS!!! Something happened at the start.

I loved Bing, especially with Stills and Nash

I can't bet Churchill until 2023 when COVID is over and The Rapture has begun.

I discussed this with JORR earlier. But, good luck.

BTW, your avatar is awesome.

I always wanted to get a nice framed picture of that. I think it is one of the coolest pictures of all time.

The guy who shot it should have gotten a Pulitzer or a Nobel Prize or Gold Medal....whatever they give guys that hang out in the infield of racing events and aren't too drunk to take a cool picture.

Do you ever bet on the donut races at the stadium? I think those are rigged.

LOL.

I agree. I suspect the purchasing managers at DD let the video people know what is about to expire in the warehouse.

It would appear that my horse race betting career has come to a close.

I've lost half my money and that was the prenuptial agreement I made with horses before we began this endeavor.

I may choose to spend my personal $25 fortune and continue to give updates but I need some time to reflect and consider what I'd like to do with the rest of my life.

As my parting bet, I always also wanted to bet Pocono.

So I chose Hot Deuce and Dragon Strikes as an Exacta because I had some Mexican food last night.

Rolling With Ambition held off Hot Deuce.

I wish I could have said the same in 1991 after La Bamba with extra hot sauce.

What does that mean exactly? Switch leads?

Is that in terms of leading the horse to train it to run a certain way or is the lead the jockey and his method?

I lied. I'm still on the site.

This numberFire "expert" sucks. I haven't seen him get anything even close to correct.

I should be the expert. I at least have a backstory on most of my picks, not the expert analysis of picking a horse to win because "has good relative TrackMaster ratings - worth a look".

You are saying bet this horse to win because he's "worth a look".

I think there is an opportunity here for me to fill an "expert" void.

When a horse is making a lefthand turn he's on his left lead. In North America they try to train horses to shift to the right lead as they come off the corner into the homestretch. The conventional wisdom is that the horse tires running on the same lead.

European trainers don't seem too concerned about it. You watch these Charlie Appleby horses- there are a couple racing at Woodbine today- and they may not switch leads at all as they are kicking the shit out of a field of American horses.

I just won $40 since I said I was quitting on my closing bets so you are going to have to keep dealing with me.

It seems like the trick is to bet on the horse that is favored to win.

For all you youngsters out there hanging out at the track....

I won again. Can't stop me.

3 in a row. Look out Joe D.

Nobody talks about MLB hit streaks anymore. That used to be a huge deal but I suppose hits aren't as valued in today's game. A walk is just as, or possibly, more important.

4 in a row and Pocono has a favorite that is my son's name.

You have to hammer that, right? Let's go for 5.

There is a shocking lack of Phil Georgeff-type - calling an auction - type announcing on these global races.

I miss that.

That is what horse racing feels like to me.
