I just recently got into betting horses and was wondering if I can bet online on the races on TVG in the comfort of my home.

Any help?

Twinspires. Thanks to Walt, who recommended it... it works very well once you can make a deposit (I had a bit of an issue getting them to take my card).

Overall, TVG looks better and simpler to use but it appears you can only bet certain amounts

Just give me $500 now and don't gamble ever again.

Went with TVG.

Hopefully my $2 bets don't put me on the streets.

I told you they wouldn't accept Diner's Club.

Word to the wise..only bet on major tracks on the weekends. Stay away from mid week minor tracks because they do dirty shit sometimes.

Coward shit.

I've won two in a row and I'm in the green.

No, but seriously. What you mean by "dirty shit"?

We can be TVG buddies.

The equibase picks and info given are hit or miss but they can give you a good idea of who to support.

When you see things like lasix being added, ran a huge last race, or jockey/trainer combo has good win rate at d/s, its good to consider.

When in doubt, WPS.

I am a fan of UK/SAF/AUS races but i rarely bet them. Aussie races have been my downfall.

And late night, after drinking, watching horses run the wrong way around the track makes my head spin!

I'm closed to hammered and won 3 races in a row after losing my first 4. Hell yea, I'll be your TVG buddy!

I only stopped because the Cubs are on and I'm quite fond of them.

I'd never heard of Twinspires until the Kentucky Derby broadcast, but they were pushing it hard.

right?

i love watching the races for the commentary though. very lively bunch. but man are they bad at picking horses.

there are a few websites that can "aid" in the international races.

UK/SAF:

http://www.attheraces.com/racecard/

AUS:

https://www.punters.com.au/form-guide/

there are also jockeys to look for as well.

Here are track rating based on the value they offer. The sheet shows the price that is charged for each type of wager:

that's helpful; you posted it in my TVG thread as well.

i was going to try twinspires for a bonus deal but it looks like they only match like $20 per $100 you spend. at least that's the way it came across in the explanation. maybe i missed something.

with TVG you wager $100 and get $100 back.

Just getting into horse race betting and am very tempted to try either TVG or Twinspires. How trustworthy are these sites, and has anyone had issues withdrawing money?

Churchill Downs Inc. owns Twinspires, so you aren't going to have any problems with them. TVG is owned by Paddy Power Betfair which is the premier English/Irish gambling company. You are going to be fine with either of these as betting on horses online is legal in the US. This is unlike my sports gambling where I (hypothetically) get laundered payouts in the form of Amazon gift cards.

Use twinspires and have also used xpressbet. Never an issue with getting money out -- not that I have the opportunity to do so very often

Also at Twinspires you get "points" for your wagers which I end up converting to a few free wagers each year. And Twinspires has a mobile app which makes it easy to use at the track or OTB rather than mess with the machines and vouchers while still accumulating points.

I have never tried TVG.

I set up a TVG account 3 weeks ago. I deposited $75, which they matched. Sadly, that money $150 only lasted until last weekend. It was too easy to bet on races in a different part of the world at 6 am local.

I had some user error setting up my account, but when I called their customer service, they were excellent.

When I deposit more into my account, and I will, I'll be more disciplined. With my initial deposit, I only went on info that was free. Next time, I'll buy race forms that show past performances. While no guarantee of future performance, blah blah blah, I'll be armed with more/better? information. At least that's what I keep telling myself.

My only issue is TVG isn't in HD on Comcast, at least not by me. Still love having it on while "working from home" on a late Friday afternoon.

Don't know how TVG works but Twinspires if you bet the track that day the PPs are free so I never have to buy them.

The TVG comcast channel, with all its jumping from track to track, gives me a headache. When at home we generally just pick a track, hook up the laptop to the TV via HDMI and then watch the twinspires track feed for that particular track. That way we can also get all the genius picks from the track handicapper.

I'm wondering if Arlington is part of TVG, and if it is, whether it's shown locally.
