Post subject:  Supreme Court to hear New Jersey sports gambling case
Even though New Jersey has lost in the lower courts, the Supreme Court announced they will hear the case, overruling the Solicitor General's opinion that the court skip this case. This goes back to a 1992 law (Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act - PASPA) that was passed saying sports gambling would only be permitted in locations in which it was currently permitted, thereby prohibiting other states from joining in the revenue. Chris Christie has been fighting for sports gambling to be legalized to help with the Atlantic City casinos. If the law was overturned, New Jersey would almost certainly implement sports gambling, and it would be up to each state to enact legislation to permit it.

i haven't had any issues with offshore books (not that i'm cashing out often anyways :lol: ) but it'd be nice to have legal sports gambling in IL.

I'm curious to see how the religious nuts that are now increasingly steering the Court will rule on this one.

Falls under states rights to me. And I bet they win it on that basis.

I can't get my gang to go back to AC because of the lack of sports book gambling.
