Got the exacta in R6 (redboarding!), missed 7 and 8 (had the 14 which was apparently injured in the race), 1-6-8 boxed exacta for R9

Final thoughts...live to the 1,4,5,6 in the P4 and 1,4,6 in the P#...nothing against Flightline, just not convinced he is in the class of my avitar...but that may just be me...heavy Win/Show on the 1-Tabia (notably absent JORR's horse, ((hope all is well)) and the 6-Epicenter just an outstanding horse

Ha, no heavy lifting here. Winning my first race once again the kiss of death.

Exacta key box 4/1,2,6. Good luck on yours.

I had a bad half hour wherein I lost $200 win bets on the 13 that got beat by the 12 at Gulfstream (also a $50 exacta, unboxed, of course), Blue Stripe, and Stone Age (and a $50 unboxed exacta with Rebel's Romance). I didn't really feel much like posting.

Blue Stripe was the one that really hurt the most.

The kid was crying in the winner's circle and one of the guys I was with said, "Poor kid must have bet the 9 horse."

Man, that race was a thing of beauty. I can only think of American Pharoah in the last 10 years running similarly.

I don't really know what to do with Baffert horses, so I just kind of dismiss them from conversations about "the greatest." I've been around the business long enough to know that you can't race at the top class on just hay, oats, and water, but whatever Baffert does is next level. Like Barry Bonds plus.

There's a good chance he debuted the 2023 Derby winner on Saturday in Arabian Knight. That would be what, his tenth or eleventh "Horse of a Lifetime"?

Regarding Flightline, despite his limited résumé, he certainly is one of the best horses I've ever seen. I'd put him right there with Spectacular Bid and Secretariat.

There was a lot of discussion and lamentation about his retirement. I don't really know what else he has to prove. Go overseas to beat similar fields? Beat up on Grade 2 animals in the Pegasus? I'm perfectly fine with his short brilliant career. I look forward to better betting races without him.

Also, I know he didn't go the classic distance, but Runhappy belongs in any conversation about the greatest horses ever. Because in an era when science and drugs are such a big part of the game, that's a horse that I know 100% was on the square and drug-free. Mattress Mack wouldn't even allow him to get Lasix.

I get what you are saying. I more meant the way he would pace but once set down for the drive it was all over.

Runhappy was awesome. I was lucky enough to see Spectacular Bid and he was awesome. Even Affirmed who had the great Alydar at his neck.

Just saw where a 2.5% stake of Flightline just sold for $4.6M at the Keeneland sales this morning.
